Hello,
This site has proven to be a really helpful site I'm hoping it will be again with my lastest situation.

My heart leaf philodendron was knocked down plant broke off from root stem. She has several aerial roots which are in the soil. So whats left in the pot is the stem and it's roots plus the aerial roots the plant itself is sitting a a bowl of water.
Can the plant survive with just the aerial roots? or Can this plant grow roots again sitting in the bowl of water?

Thank you.
Isabel

Hi Isabel wavy
So Sorry to hear your plant was broken, That must have been disappointing boohoo BUT do not worry ,, where it broke off at new shoots will begin soon grin and the pieces that broke off will start new roots provided they are in fresh water ( I'd change the water every few days  ) Soon you'll have New growth and roots from all the pieces, and later should you choose too you can repot them all together ,, OR have two different plants in separate pots thumbup

Heart-leaf Philodendron is probably one of the easiest house plants to grow. Place them nearly any where (except direct sun) and they will thrive. Allow the soil to dry about one inch from the surface before watering. Feed monthly with a balanced plant food. If your plant becomes leggy... just cut it back to the desired size. The cuttings are easily rooted in a container of water or vermiculite.

yes Diane is correct--I have several that I grew from 1 plant that was in a plant arrangement that I got when I was in the hospital from having my 29 yr old Daughter----they are most forgiving.

Thank you
I wasn't sure if I should be letting it live off the aerial roots or trying to reroot it. Hopefully this will be more successful than the Jade. Although the Jade wasn't my doing it's owner allowed it ( due to lack of proper care) to get some disease and considering that the tree died I was able to salvage some cuttings.
