Just thought I would introduce myself. I am fairly new to gardening, just started my obsession last year. We live in a small town in Western PA (zone 6) and have close to an acre-which is becoming one large garden!! Most of my areas get full sun but there's an area in the back where I want to start a shade garden-I tell my husband that it makes less to mow. This past winter I started alot of plants from seed which I intend to do again.
I have 3 children, married and 6 grandchildren, 4 goldfish in my garden pond and now have grandfish too!!

I am looking forward to sharing ideas and learning more about gardening.

I don't think so, it's a nice place. I've been to Smith's furniture too. Do you happen to know of a good place to order/purchase seeds? If I get this greenhouse up I'm going to need some. I did get some last year at the stores but alot didn't grow......
Thanks

Let us help you learn seed picking.

Tell us what flowers you now grow we can tell you when to pick seeds.

Usually when they turn brown and dry up an fall into your hand .

We all started not knowing how. DOnt pick off dead blooms let they go to seed.
Turn brown and fall off.

Pm me your address, I can send started pkts for you to get going.

People on here will send you seeds without a swap. That's how I got started in my wild flower garden. Then when you have seeds you can seed a new gardener seeds.

thanks!! I'll take whatever I can get. My neice gave me some dried pods, all she knew that it was a nice blue flower!! We really enjoy gardening but not sure of all the names of the plants & flowers. I have:
black eyed susans
day lillies
liatris
clematis
russian sage
tons & tons of mint spearming & peppermint
bachelor buttons
honeysuckle
hostas
dahlias

I have more but can't think of names (or go look at the names, I keep the tags from the plants I buy and put near them!!)

Do you pick the dahlia seeds at all? Show me a close up of the dahlias.
I grow mine from seed and love them. Your well organize there.

The dahlias arent dried yet for picking.. I will let you know when mine are.
I have all on your list , I will try to send different ones.

Hello I am also a new member and just joined today. I also live in western Pa. For my most shady areas I just plant ferns. My favorite is the painted fern. I have impatients in my backyard that i hope to bring in for the winter. Do you happen to know if they will do well in the winter with only getting the morning sun?
