Just thought I would introduce myself. I am fairly new to gardening, just started my obsession last year. We live in a small town in Western PA ( zone 6) and have close to an acre-which is becoming one large garden!! Most of my areas get full sun but there's an area in the back where I want to start a shade garden-I tell my husband that it makes less to mow. This past winter I started alot of plants from seed which I intend to do again. I have 3 children, married and 6 grandchildren, 4 goldfish in my garden pond and now have grandfish too!! I am looking forward to sharing ideas and learning more about gardening. NJ

I don't think so, it's a nice place. I've been to Smith's furniture too. Do you happen to know of a good place to order/purchase seeds? If I get this greenhouse up I'm going to need some. I did get some last year at the stores but alot didn't grow...... Thanks NJ

Let us help you learn seed picking. Tell us what flowers you now grow we can tell you when to pick seeds. Usually when they turn brown and dry up an fall into your hand . We all started not knowing how. DOnt pick off dead blooms let they go to seed. Turn brown and fall off. Pm me your address, I can send started pkts for you to get going. dodge

Hello I am also a new member and just joined today. I also live in western Pa. For my most shady areas I just plant ferns. My favorite is the painted fern. I have impatients in my backyard that i hope to bring in for the winter. Do you happen to know if they will do well in the winter with only getting the morning sun?
