Ouch!!! my fingers hurts...but they look so nice now grin .

If you decide to try painting your faded plastic chairs get one of those spray can thingys. My fingers are pretty sore from pushing down that nozzle on the can.

1 OR 2 items isn't to bad but when you get to the 3rd or so you will be looking to use a different finger.
By the time I finished I used up 4 fingers and could hardly hold any pressure on the nozzle anymore, forget about trying to pinch anything afterwards. After 2 days their still tender with pressure appled .

In the end the job was done with a new look, just need to do the tables and umbrella wt...were thinking on a gray color ...maybe 2 toning the tables(wine base coat w/ gray tops)

5 chairs, 6 cans of paint.
Used Rust-o-leum paint for plastic...4.99 ea
Make sure items are clean and dry before painting. I started by laying the chair on it's face and started with the bottom, back and legs. Then flip it right side up and do the rest, wait 15-20 min to dry enough to move and on to the next.

The only problem is...now it shows how much my deck needs a new coat of stain tapfoot....their is plans for that....next spring

Looks great..

Did you know you can buy an aerosol trigger attachment for $4 at your local hardware store and trust me they work wonderful.

Carol, the plastic spray paint is amazing..i see a lot of people using it on second hand outdoor toys.

Nicely done, Rick!

Sorry about all your "trigger fingers" ailing you now.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Thanks everyone

You know I think I had one of those trigger gizmos, but ...darn if I can remember if I do and to find it ..well...
I'll run across it sooner or later ..it's in one of those boxes uhuhh

Painting plastic is just like any other surface, the key is in the prep.
I've had good luck with regular paint on plastic over the years too ...prep...prep is the key

Plastic paint contains more flex and bonding agents to help adhering and flexability to prevent cracking and peeling . You could get away with regular paint and use a adhesion promoter as a primer 1st then paint .
You can find that in the auto paints , bumper paint is a form of plastic paint too you can use .
Like I said it's all in the prep, scuff and clean good ....paint

Once you have a good prep it's the over spray you need to watch. Be sure you watch out for this . Over spray may dry as it flies and leave a dust , but some might not dry before it lands and will bind to the surface it lands on .
Sometimes it will come off easy and sometimes it's there to stay.

Watch the wind, I've seen overspray travel pretty good distances and then stick.
A light breeze in a direction away from stuff is a good plan.

If you look close you can see the tint on my brown boots....this will wear off after I mow this wk

Good job with the chairs, I think you've given me a project for next weekend. Not that I need another one but none the less, painting chairs, I like it. Much more environmentally friendly, then replacing.
