Couldn't the gate take up the additional length you need?

It should be a sturdy fence when completed. I'll be interested to see the process as well as the end result!

I remember my uncle building this big fence, took him weeks. Even bought the fancy page wire for it..put the 2 year old in and in 3 minutes he climb up it and over the side lol

you don't stay in the stall mode for long.

how about a decorative trellis to fill in the gap???
Then you plant a vining flower on it & there you have beauty, privacy & an enclosure.
????? why it s an idea....

lol , we use to do that to the new labors on our framing crew .....go get the board stretcher out of the van.
He would go look and we would just laugh as he spent 15 mins looking for it lol.
Then we would let him in on the joke ...only to turn around and tell him ...go get the wall puller from the van.

Then it gets real funny , him thinking it was another joke and try calling our bluff.....yeah right . Funny thing ...there IS a such tool lol .

We had them boys all confused.....use the left handed saw on that lol

I can't stall to long , things start to get in the way . With the snow toys in there there's not much room to move around .
Normally Im knee deep in the sleds at this time ..tearing them down but this yr im running a bit behind since Im not working and have all of fall to get them ready....soon though , im getting the itch blush

Ok the fence...

Started to get it going , should be installed by the wknd .

Here we go.... here is the total span , from the stick in the bucket to the end of the fence.
[Linked Image]

1ST I had to figure out how and what I want to be functional(gates).
I decided to make it open up big enough to get into the back with a veichle if needed...plus thinking I can store my snow trailer over there when I need the room.
So ....I decided to make a 8ft-9" section that open when needed and a 3ft access gate for daily use....total opening 11'-9"

1st thing was to lighten the big section up as much as I could and then build it so it would be sturdy enough for the span and function.
[Linked Image]

Here's the big section done other then filling in the open spots. I needed to gain a few pcs to make up for the gate and over all span .
I have a idea for the open spots but won't fill them in till the other gate is made.... 1 open spot on that too to make it even looking when all done.

[Linked Image]

Now for the little gate, hope to get to that tonight after I get back from a meeting at the plant ....hope their going to tell us were coming back sooner then planned prayers

IT'S DONE AND INSTALLED !!..and it worked just fine clap

Sorry got a little behind on the pic's of prosess, but here's some and the finish job.

this is the little gate's hinge system, the little ring goes on the top after install.

[Linked Image]

...getting ready to power wash.

[Linked Image]

...it's fully functional, 8'-9" big gate for the bigger stuff and a everyday gate.

[Linked Image]

Done ! bow

...ahhh what next ?? grin

That turned out well, Snow. I've been mentally designing fences with lot of wood that I have hanging around. But I have yet to begin.

You can really get wonderful ideas from this community. You could have made a pointed top to discourage climbing ideas from a 2-year old but I guess that entails quite a bit of work. Overall, its a properly executed project with satisfactory results.

Thanks everyone , it turned out pretty good for the cause . Only invested less then 20 dollars...hinges and cement. Alot better then what it would of cost if I had to buy everything.

This is a rental so I don't want to go to wild ...and it is removable if...

My main concern was the grandson taking off on mom, we all know how those trying 2's can be nooo lol

I have 30 some spindles left !! zoink

If he starts climbing I'll have to maybe modify it one day ...razor wire ??? lol j/k . A strip of lattice across the top would work, 1 sheet would raise it 2ft all the way across and it's light enough to not add much wt.

If it was'nt for keeping the grandson in the yard ,this wood would of been some new tater bins or compost bins ...maybe I'll get it all back one day and it will become that in another life cycle
