So I have about 25 picklers saved and getting ready to jar them up. 1st time trying it so Im a little confused. Some recipes say to water bath the jars after their filled and lided , some say to just lid them after the hot brine is added and let cool...store. My wife bought this pickle mix...mrs wages when she picked up the jars, anyone ever use this ?? Debating on using it and adding some fresh dill and some garlic to the jar during packing...just don't know what this mix is like ....could it use more dill & garlic ???? ...Fresh dill Im assuming you can cut and wash and stuff in jar or is there a prosses for fresh dill before use ? I never used it , just grew it for fun and the smell in the yard . Another thing ... I understand that the brine is to be boiled in a non-alum pan due to the viniger, glass or ceramic coated. IS stainless steel ok ? Any pointers on my 1st try ??I dont want to make a batch of botchlism Thanks for any help  snow

Use stainless steel pots for pickling.
To be on the safe side it is best to water bath your jars after filling them..although some people do not but better to be safe than sorry.
You should have directions on your pickle mix package..each person makes pickles differently.
Have fun...

1st batch done ...8qts Mixed up the mix per directions , boiled the jars ,packed and added some fresh dill and a few chunks of garlic, filled w/ brime ,lided and put back in the hot water for 10-15mins , cooled and all sealed. The hard part is wondering how they will taste. the mix said you can eat in 24 hrs afterwards, think we will be popping a seal on one soon ...they keep calling me from the counter....have to have a taste test before the next batch snow

I thought perhaps I would of started with the making of a list of wht I needed & then go check & see what I had to buy then on to the garden??? "Just being silly girls" no malice intended. actually the only thing I put up on a jar is jelly/jam & ice box pickled beets.
