I bought a moonglow pear tree last year. It didn't bloom this spring. Now, it is full of blooms. When I looked up moonglow pears on the internet it said it should bloom in spring. Anyone have any idea what is going on here?

Hmm, wondering if it was kept in a warm place at the nursery? Maybe it mistook the cooler weather as a winter dormancy and if it warmed up a bit lately..as it's spring

My Asian pears ripened in early to mid September and are blooming right now with fruits still in them. The trees are confused by the weather. The leaves, flowers and fruits will soon drop when the weather gets cold; the trees will go dormant and wake up next spring.

Thanks Papito it's always good to read your posts. I'm thinking about adding an asian pear to my property but I would want a dwarf one and I haven't seen anything like that for sale.

i'm so glad that shipping times aren't until the spring. But I will definitely be ordering then. This is so exciting. Thank you for sharing the links with me.

You can often get fruit trees to bloom twice with fertilizer, so you need to be careful when you add fertilizer. I suppose it is like induced labor. I was surprised to see blooms in December, probably not good for the tree. Slow release fertilizer can sometimes be too slow.
