Can you write a limerick? Isn't this something we all wrote as a child? Most limericks are humorous but they don't have to be.
Here is mine:
My sis brought me here to this forum Her grandsons, I really adore ‘em They live far away I’ll visit some day I’ll try very hard not to bore ‘em Now you write one.

I keep coming back to this topic...but then that stoopid limerick "There was an old hermit named Dave..." gets inside my head.
I'm trying...shouldn't be too hard after a few more glasses of wine.

Here's my first attempt. I'll see if I can do better with a bit more time.
There was a site on the internet, Where lots of gardeners once met. Information was shared, By people who cared. Join the fun and you'll be all set.

Wild Willy is a garden gnome, He gives burls and rocks a home. I've run out of time and run out of rhyme So this is the end of my poem.

There’s really blue grass in Kentucky Those living here feel very lucky We see horses play And frolic all day And everything feels pretty ducky.

Do I dare be too technical? Limericks are writen with lines 1,2,and 5 having 7-8 syllables and lines 3 and 4 have 5-6 syllables. but if your story can't be written like that, go ahead and write the limerick anyway

Ok it took me a few hours (off and on but I think I got it. I didn't know before jayhawks post thatthere was a syllable count to limericks I just thout it had to rhyme like aabba. So heres my new one.
The first and second line must rhyme, The third and forth rhyme will chime, The Fifth must match the first, Syllables are the worst. Seven to eight, then five to six in time.
Ok so I'm one syllable over in the last line. Any suggestions to make it better.

Good job Shani! I didn't know there was a syllable count either until my daughter-in-law told me about it. We looked it up and there sure is! on this forum: writing a limerick has only one rule, as far as I'm concerned, and that's the rhyming rule. Life is full of enough rules so only the one rule here. Count syllables only if you want.
