Today I managed to cut half of the grass in the back yard. Then I raked alittle and added that to the newest compost pile. Now as usual I'm watering.

I was busy today. I finished cutting the back yard lawn. I finally finished cutting up that tree I cut down months ago. I placed containers under the impatiens hoping to catch seeds. I'm watering the shady side of the tree bed. I got a ten foot section layed down in the future veggie bed now I just have to fill it with compost and clay. And I found and sprayed a paper wasp nest in my shed.

Today I tried to electricute myself. I guess I needed some adventure in my life. I got down and chopped up that tree that gave me all the problems this summer. Then I went after the one that was leaning towards the power lines. I back cut that sucker and used a very steep angle on the other side and it still fell into the power lines. Fortunately for me the power lines held. They swayed a bit but they didn't come down. So now the trunk of that sucker is all cut up and I just have the top part to de-limb and de-leaf and mulch. Trees have so many good uses. That is when they aren't trying to kill me.

Way cool. I hear the ones around here mooing in the morning but I don't ever see them. There property must be surrounded by trees.
Today I managed to cut 1/3 of the front yard water the fruit trees and part of the foundation and sidewalk bed. Then Sharon and I went into town and got the correct wrench so I can adjust my chainsaw. We also got some toliet bolts and I fixed my toliet seat. So with also getting all the dishes done that I had let pile up I've had a very good day.

well yes, primarily the fall clean up to do, but I keep forgetting to go dig my potatoes- -and if I keep this up they are going to be rotted (if they are not already so) Then: When the leaves have fallen good, I need to go to my DD's house & get myself several bags of leaves fcr my asperagus bed. I have already weeded that pretty well---but it needs to be mulched. (I usually leave the fronds on until say january) Thru all of my goings on I have lost 1 row of plants and they need to be redone--but DH keeps talking about bringing in dirt to raise up the back of our yard--& I dont know if I will be moving the garden or what--so I will make do with that I have for right now--- Not time to clean off my flower beds yet either---

I planted a row of romaine lettuce today. Then it was transplant time because a friend was bringing me mums. I love mums for fall color. So a clump of ditch lilies got divided and put in the ditch bed. A yellow sedum got moved to make space for the ditch lilies. The blackberry lilies got moved to make room for another clump of mums. And I still need to weed the shade bed and transplant the irises. And there are a boat load of them. Oh and lest I forget, I'm going to move the japanese red lacy maple to the driveway bed. Then it's back to cutting down trees and hauling dirt to the veggie bed from the future root cellar.

I sympathize with you I planted lettuce out too and am having 85 degree days. This just wasn't what I planned. I guess I should have waiting until November lol. Today I planted the replacement sedum, phlox, and red hydrangea. I've never seen a red hydrangea so I'm really looking forward to this one doing well. It should have plenty of time to aclimatize before summer this time around. spring Hill sending the plants to me in mid summer just did not work.

O.k. I admit defeat, just came in from trying to do Fall clean up. Not gonna work out by myself, I don't even have the strength to put the shovel in the ground. DH is just gonna have to take a day next week to help me out...and we are gonna have to simplify some things in the yard. Out comes the chainsaw and down comes some trees and shrubs. I've got no other choice.

I am sorry, Tamara. I am a mix match of what I can do. Today I swung by my tire place to get them to check my pressure and add air. Because that is something I have trouble getting my hands to do. Fine motor skills. Then I came home and cranked up my gas hedge shears and trimmed a mess of shrubs. That doesn't take the same muscles, bones, joints to do.

Thanks Tina..it's just so frustrating. I am a 'do-er', I hate depending on people. My yard is in a mess...everything is dead and needs to be cleaned up before the snow falls because the mice will make nests in the dead vegetation.

Yes, I really do understand. I fight the fight all of the time. But it is usually the small stuff that defeats me and almost to tears.

That was me today...DH said he'd tackle everything with me next week. see dear-- I know you are used to doing it all yourself, but you are just going to have to learn to wait for the weekends or evenings & DH is jsut going to have to either do the outdoors work (mine does) or at least help you with the heavy things. I have always thought your DH was a lucky man, what with all the heavy outdoor work yo have done---I think now he can take over much, if not all of the heavy work--you can become a supervisor !! You just need to learn how to make a "honey Do list". That way as he h as the time, he can pick the task he has time for. That is why God made weekends--you can ask Rodney, he can tell you.

I would occasionally ask John to help with something. But I am really enjoying 'not' having his 'help' with some things too. He was good for stomping all over my plants and such. Drove me nuts often as not. So I can get out the gas pole saw and trim the limbs I want down and not destroy everything underneath them.

I wish I could afford skilled labor for some of the things I want done. But, that just is not going to happen. Which means I'm going to have to put up with that tree until the county comes by and chops it for me. Or at least tops the part that over hangs the road.
It rained last night so it looks like I don't have to do a thing today. So I'm headed over to plant some blackberry lilies at the neighbors. No reason to waste a good rain.

Guess I haven't been paying attention. Tamara, are you sick? Sometimes people need to be pointed in the right direction. I get so aggravated at Johnny because he doesn't do what I see needs to be done but when I point it out to him and ask why he didn't do it he'll reply he didn't know it needed to be done. Then he'll do it. He just doesn't see what I see sometimes. So ask before you cry.

I would occasionally ask John to help with something. He was good for stomping all over my plants and such. Drove me nuts often as not. \ sounds like my Rodney sopping water all over the kitchen floor when I asked him to mop the floor back when I could not do so. I had actually been standing there telling him how to do it, because obviously he did not know how, so I figure he had no real excuse for messing it up ---after I took the mop away from him and mopped the floor myself that one time like I should not have been doing --we had unmopped floors for over a year. I was sore for days--not a good thing when recovering from surgery. I decidede he was being that way on purpose, so as to not have to mop.--

Oh, that spells Divorce Sheri, yes..they think I now have Crohn's to add to my other list of ails lately. Well, I did go out with gardening shears and cut back some dead flowers and stalks. It's a good start..I have one flower bed done(out of 5) Oh and I think my beets might still be good. I was pulling them out thinking they were a loss but they look good under the ground. I might try cook them to see if they can be bottled after all. Worth a try Back later...probably gonna need to boil the beets for hours
