I was recently given a unknown house plant and I waited with anticipation for the flower to open in hopes that I would recognize it. I did not. Its very strange looking. It looks like a flower on a flower. I misplaced my camera (again) so I can't post a photo but I'll do my best to describe it.

Its about 3 inches in diameter
the light green husk opened to reveal white sepals that look like the a daisy.

On top of the sepals there is a purple flower (the actual flowers) there seem to be disk florets and ray florets.
The rays are long with dark purple on the edge and get lighter towards the disc.
The disc florets are dark purple and seem to stand up perpendicular to the disc. they are only 1/8 inch long.

The stamen seem to be connected to the pistil on a stem that come up (about 1/4 inch from the disc) and has three stamen coming off of it then comes up another 1/4 inch further to have three pistils

The plant it self seems to be a vine. With a palmately lobed leaf. the leaves have 3 lobes with smooth edges. Widest part of the leaf is about 4 inches across and 3 inches high

A complicated flower for sure. It sounds much like a Passion flower which can come in a multitude of colors.

Bill had this as the plant of the day a few days ago.
