Tina, I remember many many years ago I followed my uncle Christmas Eve shopping. I just sat on the bench and watched in amazement as people panicked and scrambled to just buy something..and at the last just anything lol

Home again, YAY!

Leftovers for dinner tonight & that was great!

I forgot to eat breakfast this morning & never eat lunch on dialysis days.... so you know I was about starved by the time I got home tonight.

Maxi made up some Thanksgiving Day Sandwiches on dinner rolls for us.

Have much to do tonight to get us ready for tomorrow & Maxi being away.

But for right now I'm having some coffee and resting a bit.

I was just saying I'm going to have to get a turkey sometime soon because I am craving turkey sandwiches, hot. Not doing my own for the holiday and then seeing it all happening on TV is giving me cravings. Tomorrow we are having a potluck T-day dinner. That may reduce the feelings I am having. But I doubt it.

Tina, I LOVE turkey but it's so $$ here. I often buy the wings just to bake and treat myself with. At $4 for two wings it still expensive though.

Maybe someone will bring turkey to the pot-luck, you can always hope thumbup

There will be 2 turkeys at the potluck (and a ham). I just probably won't get any leftovers. It is the leftovers I am craving. But I will be good. And Turkeys will be reasonably priced between now and Christmas. Then be on sale again arounf Easter. I will have plenty of opportunities.

Good evening everyone. Had an okay day today. Went to PT, dropped the girls off at the mall to shop while I was at therapy. Then I came home, ate, and proceeded to make another turkey. One 20 pound turkey isn't enough in this house, lol. After that I went downtown to check out the Seattle marathon expo. I was hoping to get a discount on the Rock & Roll race in June. Their idea of a discount? Five bucks. It cost me that much just to park, that's no discount. I did find a couple things though. I got a pair of arm warmers to try and a belt thingy that holds keys, cell phone, etc. I also bought a foot roller thingy. I had slipped (twice on the ice, once in my kitchen) between Wednesday and Thursday and pulled the muscles that I had injured. It's not too bad but I'm still a bit disappointed that I have to take a couple steps back after I've been doing so well on healing. I may even opt out of the walk/jog part of therapy tomorrow even though it kills me to do so. It's feeling a little sore after therapy today, more so than I thought it would. It could have worse and I'm thankful that is only a minor, temporary set back. Tomorrow I've got to start on laundry and I really need to wash my sheets. I keep waking up all stuffed up and I'm sure it's my dust allergy and my ability to forget that sheets need changing once in a while. I have PT again in the morning and other than that it's just a sit around the house kind of day for me. I'm off Sunday so I get a long weekend, which I really needed and am very thankful for. The girls are at a sleep over and the boys are playing video games. I'll probably be going to bed in an hour or so.

Cheryl I'm sorry about your setback. Hopefully you'll be moving forward safely again soon.

I got pretty upset at dialysis today. I had about 45 minutes left of my treatment, the time I am normally fighting with everything I've got to simply stay put and get 'er done. A nurse came to me to tell me that someone had accidently given MY wheelchair to another patient who had taken it home & that family wouldn't return it until Monday!

I said NO! I need my own chair and I need it today!

Ordinary staff members aren't supposed to know where patients live, though many of them do, so an ordinary staffer couldn't go get my chair. So they called the boss, who was off today, & she drove ONE HOUR round trip to go get my chair & get it back to me. She got it back about 5 minutes after I was finished... pretty swift driving on her part up country where there are no signs or phone reception towers.

I don't get that other patients family. That other patient does NOT bring her own chair to dialysis. She comes in an ordinary car & the dialysis unit provides a chair from car side to dialysis chair & back again. For some reason, the nurse grabbed my chair, put her in it, took her car side & they loaded up my chair & took it home! And then didn't want to bring it back!

Someone got testy w/ me & said why don't I just borrow a chair from the unit until Monday?

Well, let's see... my chair is measured for me. My chair has hand brakes in the front where I can reach them. My chair has wheels with rims on the sides so I can propel myself forward. My chair doesn't have foot rests so I'm not blocked from moving around inside my house.

The dialysis chairs have brakes in the rear for the staff to use. The dialsyis chairs have no side wheels w/ rims fot the patient to propel the chair. The dialysis chairs have big, non moveable leg rests that would keep me at least 1 foot to 18 inches away from the stove, counter, desk, etc & make it nearly impossible to turn the tight corners in here. And the non-measured chairs are so tall, I couldn't reach the floor with my feet.

I'm glad I stuck to my point of view -- GET MY CHAIR!

Now they are making laminate labels to hang on the back of chairs w/ peoples names on them. I didn't think that would be necessary as my chair is the only DRIVE chair in the group. If someone didn't notice the big word DRIVE across the back, who's to say she'll notice SALUNEK either? why

The nurse who made the mistake came to me nearly in tears. I told her please do not cry; it was a mistake! And no harm done. I didn't want this good nurse & my friend bawling over a mistake.

The family who doesn't bring a chair is just plain rude to have loaded it in the first place and then to refuse to bring it back. Even if that family didn't load the chair themselves they had to notice that the chair was being folded and loaded into their car. And, even though your nurse friend is sorry and tearful she should have NEVER borrowed your personal chair for even a second.

Sorry about your chair, Merme. I'm glad you demanded your chair back. I agree, that family was rude. They've never taken a chair home before, what made them think they could have this one, and not care that someone actually needed it. Glad you got it back fairly quickly. PT went pretty well today. My muscle soreness was almost non-existent, which tells me that I didn't injure very badly. I was able to do more running intervals on the treadmill today with only minimal discomfort, not the pain I had yesterday. My therapist decided that some of my exercises were too easy and made them more difficult for me today. Boy did I feel it! It's a good thing though, it means I'm progressing and getting stronger. I did have to wake up to an alarm today, but only because there weren't any later appointments available for today. I'll probably take a nap at some point today, I don't feel like I got enough sleep. I'm starving but I have to wait a half hour after taking my pill to eat. About 10 more minutes and I'm having one of the gluten free cinnamon rolls I bought. I had one the other day and it was really yummy! I may have two since I'm so hungry.

I home again.

The funeral for our friend Eckart went very well. The cathedral was packed; there must have been 100 priests & countless deacons, plus ordained ministers of every description.

Maxi & I had signed up to bring food & it is a good thing they put the call out for food because man dear, all those people were half starved it seemed! They had two giant sized buffet type tables all down both sides of the big parish hall; don't know how many tables they put end to end to make them so long. And something clever.... they put four tables for cold drinks -- one in each corner -- so that people didn't have to fight their way through that enourmous crowd to get a drink. The cofee bar was at the far end though.

When we first got upstairs, you could NOT move through the crowd pressed shoulder to shoulder. After about 1 1/2 hours, it had thinned by half & still the room was crowded.

We had also volunteered to help w/ the clean up afterward, but our ride came & really couldn't wait until the rest of the crowd left. So the guy in charge told me several other people had also volunteered just this morning, so it was ok if me 'n Maxi left.

Almost all the students who had taken the chaplaincy w/ Eckart & I were there, except for those few who have moved out of state since. Even our director who had retired a few years back was present. We all just stood there together, in a state of disbelief for Eckart had been such a vibrant part of our class.

So after we left, we dropped Maxi off at his dad's & he won't be home until Monday after school. I miss that noisy bugger! lol

Cheryl I am glad you are doing so well in PT. Good for you!

Going to my MIL's house here in a few as we will not be spending time with her tomorrow.

Back now for a while.

Today My youngest DD & her DH put us on her cell p hone plan. MY DH was getting frustrated with his pay-as-you-go cell phone and to put us on our own family plan was so not a good idea since we neither use a cell phone enough to justify the expendature.

So I now can test ladies & gentlemman !!!! yea me--(my old phone would do texting but my plan was so old it did not include texting.

anyway that is what is new with me now....

Sweet dreams, Carol.
We had our Thanksgiving potluck at the resort next door this evening. Ted was not happy about sticking around so we didn't for very long. So I had soup at home. I still have my turkey craving. I will have to cook some soon.
I also took a fairly long nap today and I hope I can sleep tonight.

Morning everyone. I woke up a little sick this morning but I'm okay now. Watching some X-Files episodes and drinking some tea. I ate my last cinnamon roll, they were good while they lasted. The sun is coming out and I'm thinking of taking a photography hike today. We'll see.

Merme, sorry to hear you were in the hospital, hope everything's okay. I had a gloriously lazy day of sitting around doing nothing but eat and watch episodes of the X-files. I did manage to shower and finish the rest of my laundry, which was only one load. Almost time to get ready for bed, gotta go back to work tomorrow.

Morning..

Hoping things are o.k. Merme kissie

What a long weekend..DH needed the truck so I had to depend on others to take DD and I around to help with getting things ready for her new apartment. And of course anything that was on sale wasn't in stock..it's going to take a month to get her little couch in. Money doesn't go far so she has to get a few items on credit. All the second hand appliances were 'near death'. Why would people try sell 'broken' appliances? If you have to buy second hand it's because you have no money for new. I'd be ashamed to try swindle someone like that. What a frustrating weekend badday

O.k. I bantered and feel better lol I did start my Christmas shopping though, I was lucky enough to get the baby a car seat half price..they only had two left for the one day sale. The early bird does get the worm thumbup

Appliances and furniture are pricey, Tamara. And the season probably isn't helping much.
Good morning. Ted and I are pretty well prepared for going back to school after having a week off.

Happy Monday afternoon every one. We had a great weekend here went to get our Christmas tree and found a great deal at a "cut your own" place. My fiance has never had a real tree before so he was excoted and we brought my 3 year old niece along to help pick out the right tree. Even arco (my dog) was super excited and bouncing around all the trees. Which was quite the site as he is still bigger thatn the three year old and whe was the one walking him. We ended up with a 9 1/2 foot Fraser Fir for $55. It was a bit challenging decorating the top but if we held up my niece should could just about get to the top.

Working hard keeping the snow out, Tamara?
I have hauled in wood and need a couple more loads. I also brought the bedding down from the treehouse and it is in the wash. My friend left this morning for her first leg home to Washington.

No, I refuse to allow Sheli to lead me into trouble any more. I send her off to get into trouble alone. Some of us grow up.
I have my washer and dryer full of laundry and Have brought in a mess of wood. One more barrow full to leave on the back porch and I should be good for a couple of days.
I purchased another turkey today because I couldn't resist the discounted price and I haven't yet had any this season. I will roast it either tomorrow or Wednesday.
