Finally! After two decades of trying, I managed to capture a Black Vulture showing off his main identifying field mark, HEADLIGHTS.
Headlights are bright white circles on the underside tips of a Black Vultures wings that show ONLY in flight under perfect lighting conditions. I braved mid-20 degree weather on Percy Priest Lake about 4 miles from my house at 6:30 this morning, to find a Kettle of Black Vultures, JUST starting to leave on today's foraging. I got over 30 pictures , most showing headlights, but this is the best one. I am giddy like a school girl over these pictures!
