Hi im Harry and im new on here, but just found this site and as a novice gardener think that this may help me no end. so here is my question. I have already planted my first crop of potatoes which turned out very well, however I am wanting to plant a second crop BUT am I too late in doing this???? Thankyou in advance Harry
Winter Season is good time for growingpotatoes. In winter season you can grow good and tasty potatoes. In winter season seeds are also in good condition.
I just used regular bags of organic garden soil in the containers for my potatos. I add compost/manure to the garden soil when I grow my other veggies but I read this is not a good idea for potatos because it can have problematic bacteria that's good for most veggies but can cause diseases in potatos. If you do add manure I would make sure its mixed in well and is far enough below the actual seed potatos so it doesn't bother them. Also I wouldn't add any manure/fresh compost when you hill them either. That's what I've read anyhow. Keep in mind this is only my second time growing potatos so I'm still learning and researching myself!
