Hi everyone! I have really missed visiting w/ you all & hope everyone is okay.
Maxi & I are fine although we've gone through some very difficult times.
Because Maxi was sick & absent from school for 2 months, he was permanently dismissed & disqualified from ever attending there again. We were fairly devestated by this turn of events but in early April we began homeschooling. We intend that he should be caught up by August so he can begin 10th grade on time.
He is under the care of a gastroenterologist & as we follow his diet carefully & minimize his stress, the IBS stays under control. So, he is feeling better.
Meanwhile, we are still living in an empty apt & all of our belongings are on a POD. I have not been able to find us anything suitable although I do have some new leads as of this morning.
We are concentrating our search on Westbrook, a small town near Portland. Westbrook was originally a mill town built along the Presumptscot River. However, the paper mill has closed & is now used to generate electricity only so now the residents do not get regularly doused w/ the awful stench spewed out when a papermill vents its tanks. Thank God! It is a pretty town w/ wide streets, mature trees, well cared for homes & a strong sense of community. It also gives the impression of a more rural setting. I think we could do well there & the Portland bus system does go through it. I would like Maxi to learn how to use the buses & become more independent.
I have not been online hardly at all. My computer has been on the floor & I just can't get up & down as easily as I once did. My left hip is just too painful. However, someone gave Maxi a coffee table so he'd have a "desk" to use for his school work as our real desks are on the POD & we've put my PC on it. I can reach it better now, but it still hurts my hip to lean forward so far for long.
I hope to be able to be around more often soon!

Good to see you on here Merme!  and that you and Max are okay!,, kudo's to the person that donated the coffee table, I'm sure that makes it Much better for the both of you  Tell Max to study hard and get caught up for just 2 more years of high school  you know what they say,, for everyone one that pushes you away we need to thank them for putting us in the right direction that will be better for you!,, hang in there Merme, your place is waiting on you,, It doesn't want just anyone it wants You and Max to live there

Thanks Di Di & Shani! We got up very early this morning & went to Westbrook to tour an apt before the parades shut down the roads. It is a nice place & I put in an application! After that, we dropped Maxi off at his dad's. He hasn't been up there since Christmas, so he was looking forward to it Would someone let Jimmy know I lost his number & can't return his call? Off to dialysis.

 I have been hoping all was well with you guys,,, we have been going thru a lot of medical stuff too but nothing to serious- just over and over it seems,,, so glad school is out tomorrow... I hope this new apt works out okay and you can get moved,,,glad Maxi gets to visit with his dad and family- bet he missed his bros. I agree with Diane this apt is out there waiting for you and Maxi .. after this wait it will be perfect for you... Feel better Maxi... take care and do hope you can get on more often.... Nana

 UPDATE
I just heard from the landlord where I applied yesterday & we've been approved! Now the housing agency must inspect the unit & make sure everything is okay. If it is, we'll probably be able to move in a week to 10 days.
I'll keep you posted!

Today we finally finished wading through the oceans of paperwork required to get this apt. Our plan is to move on Thursday. We will not have phone or internet for a while, so don't be alarmed by not hearing from us right away.
