Today is cooler. I spent the morning moving sprinklers and doing scans on my computer and netbook. Updating it all.

I'm trying to get motivated to play in the garden, but it keeps raining on my parade! The lawns are all 1-3 ft high. I think I'll just take the day off..

An occasional day off is good for you. I have been splitting my time and energies between inside and outside work.

Good morning. I am very glad you are finished with that doctor for a year, Carol. That means good news in general. I may or may not be able to work outside today. I need to hang around my phone between 8-9 to hear from my mechanic. My van hiccuped yesterday so I decided to have it towed into the shop for some internal care and r&r.

Great news, Carol! I just had my first ever bone density scan today. Just to get a baseline, I'm sure my bones are fine. I ran 10 miles today, napped for a couple hours, and that's why I'm up so late. The Rock & Roll half marathon is only a week away! I need to work outside tomorrow. Some of it is starting to look line a jungle.

Thanks Cheryl---this was a GYNO & I had a mammo too---in July comes the Endocrinologist & my Bone density--MY bones are not fine--but with extra calcium I am keeping them just about where they ought to be---I wish you luck with your results--and yes a baseline is a good idea. Well, G'mornin'----I could have slept for hours---it is dark & rainy & just rumbling a bit, perfect sleeping weather in my books---BUT am I sleeping ?? nope---it seems I got up to make a potato dish for today, as we were to leave at 8:30am---It seems my DH wants to spend the day in the country property that my family & I co-own--there is a 2 bed room trailer on it complete with a roofed porch---the plan was to spend the day, relax & BBQ tonight & have a fire & S'mores---well we shall now see waht takes place-- But alas awake I am-- I wish everyone a great Saturday !!!!

A day in the country sounds lovely, Carol. Good morning. My plans for this morning are to shop then do laundry and outdoor things in the afternoon.

Good morning. I slept in. It will be my last chance for a while as the school routine begins again tomorrow and for the next 3 weeks. We will see how we like it.

I went to see my dad today...took him some Chicken McNuggets, fries and a big icy Coke...and a very funny card I bought at the liquor store. (That's where I buy all my cards....) When I got home there was a black bird on my doorstep that had flown into the window...it was still alive, but it didn't live very long...no telling how long it had been there already.

I am so sorry about the bird, Cindy. But it sounds like you provided your dad with a very nice father's day day. I have no fathers around to spend the day with and Ted and I did the cemetery on Memorial Day. So I was cleaning outbuildings today. Nasty. dusty work but soon it will be too hot to get into them so now is best. I need to pop my son into the bath soon to be ready for school tomorrow.

Hi all, We had a nice Father's day here too... yesterday our son came by with one of his twins... they spent the day.. Sean cut down the tree in our backyard that died... Joe'e back is out again so he is pretty limited at what he can do at the moment.. slowly getting better but don't want him doing heavy stuff. The oldest DD came by today with a gift card and funny card for him too... she went shopping with us and we had lunch so it was a nice day too... we grilled out yesterday.. steak and I made garlic mushrooms to go with the baked potatoes... was really good... been awhile since we had steak... We have been keeping an eye on the news and weather in southern Az- the Momument fire is putting my brother in laws house and land in danger... he had metal roofs on his barn and house but it would be awful if it burned- they bought the land and he built their dreamhouse on it when he retired,it's beautiful- fire has come within a mile of his property... he has built a firebreak around the house and barn with heavy equipment .. and he has water barrels around too.. and his own well with unlimited water- he is wetting everything down twice a day.... but sure is scary for them and all of us who love them... this is the place we have vacationed at the last couple of yrs and close to where we would like to retire to also... they finally called in more National Guard to help... so could use a few prayers for their safety and for all the people of Sierra Vista too- they evacuated 10,000 people there today/ Nana

Ted's summer school is only 3 hours long. So I stayed in town today and shopped for a few things I needed and then also for some shorts for him. I may have to lock up his sweats but he really is too hot in a full sweat suit all summer long. I may change my mind if his classroom is kept way too chilly via the a/c as in prior years though. And to get him to keep wearing shorts, I'll have to hide away the rest of his clothes.

Tina, I had to laugh when you said you might have to hide Ted's sweats to keep him from wearing them... my MIL has to do the same with my BIL's sweats when summer comes they live in Az and he would wear them yr around if he could find them... he is a high functioning autistic adult... but he has to wear pants and prefers sweats.. and long sleeve shirts... in 110* weather not a good idea.. we take his clothes and put them in rubbermaid containers labeled baby clothes and he leaves them alone...he will not wear shorts and hates for other people to wear them to but after a few yrs of us doing it anyway will put up with it.. just tells us at least twice to go get dressed right... he just doesn't like bare legs for reasons of his own... now we at least get him to wear light weight pants in the summer cause thats all he can find... Wonder why a lot of exceptional people prefer sweats. I see it all the time at school.

Well in Bobby's case.. he hates the labels and now sweats don't have them.. and they are soft and not binding so comfortable on his skin- since he can't process to much sensory infomation it's less destracting for him I imagine- this kid- (he is 50) but our family's forever kid... when things become to much for him he will say " Yuma 1980" and literally turn himself off for as long as and hour.. goes limp- will sit quietly in a chair- not respond to anything and then slowly come out of it and be fine again..docs say evidently he remembers 1980 and being a calm time and goes back there in his mind when life gets to stressful for him... sure wish I could do that.. Ted is similar, it is sensory issues. I began buying the sweats for him as they were easy for him to learn to dress himself and for potty training back in those days. And now he won't wear anything else unless I pretty much force dress him then get him out the door.

Yes it's just the way these kids are sometimes... my son's twins are funny to in what they like- they love hats at the moment and even go to bed with their hats on.. JR somehow got a small nail or needle in his foot a few weeks ago.. it worked it's way up inside his foot and made it swell on top.. he doesn't feel pain so never complained till it was swollen- he ended up having surgery on it to get it out it was so deep.. he is okay now but he has to wear a "boot" and and his reg shoe on th other foot.. this really bugs him so his Mom is having a really hard time keeping him from taking it off... it's not right and he unwrapped it once already and had to have it rewrapped at the ER... the doc told him no more or he would have to have more sticks- what he calls shots and IV's so now he is leaving it alone... stitches come out in a week so hope it lasts for all their sakes... I hope it lasts too. It is hard to keep things on kids when they don't like them. Ted won't wear glasses. He should but won't. And that is not something I am willing to fight about. His sight is not that bad.

Hot as hell here and had another BAD storm this evening. It went from 93* to 68* in a matter of minutes. Was drinking Hornitos so it didn't bother me...(...actually I was drinking a "Billarita"...the Bill version of a margarita...) (He taught me well...)

I was playing in the gardens and had a friend over checking my coolers. Summer is here and finally it is warm. My friend came around the side of my house and stopped very suddenly. Outside my back door he saw a snake, a very big rattler. He doesn't do snakes of any kind if he can help it so I got my snare and snagged it. I woke Jonni and she got the shovel and helped finish it off. We like snakes here of most kinds. But not dangerous ones that want to snuggle against my back door. Biggest one I found here so far, with the biggest head.

I would have definitely killed that snake!

I wish Jonni had put something down for size comparison. About 5 ft and 10 buttons on his rattle.
