Brrr, Nana. You keep safe.
Good late morning. I woke but turned off the alarm. I kept being wakened through the night with pine cones bombarding the house And a lot of other things blowing in the 80 mph winds too.
I have not walked out yet to see what all has blown around. It is supposed to reach 80* today.

80 in November thats got to be nice. we've been hoverin only a little above the frost ling at night, well most night some times we dip under. Though I am glad those storms and winds haven't come near here yet. It should be good thought cool weather here for a while whisch fits into my plans. We're hoping to build a woodshed this weekend.I'm hoping to make it big enough for 2 bush cords of wood. With the space in the basement it means we'll only have to order wood twice.

I am not sure it will make it to 80* at all. It has only climbed up a couple of degrees in the last few hours.
I have a nearly empty wood sheds. It has two sides and each side holds about 8 cords. I'd love to see them filled. But wood is hard to come by and very pricey around here.
I am heading out to shop again. I do not always enjoy shopping.

How much is a cord down there. Its about $250 here in the hills. I'm sure its lots more in Seattle.
The snow level is dropping from 6000 ft. to 3000 ft. tonight so I am out doing some weatherizing.. I hate snow... I hate winter too!

Wood is between $300 and $400 a cord here of mixed wood. I only burn hardwoods as much as possible. So that is more.

This is pretty much how I make my meatloaf, only without the BBQ sauce. I also make at least twice this recipe. It is great frozen and for sandwiches later.

Good Morning everyone---I began my day a bit early today---But oh well, this way I can get some things done that would have to wait until later---like feeding my Amish Friendship bread----I like to keep it going until I have several loaves of different flavored breads in the freezer so I have something on hand for a quick dessert or to take somewhere. idea

Our nice weather is gone for a few days---it is raining and 50* as I type--But I guess rain is better than snow---so I guess I should not complain. why

I wish everyone a good day...

Carol - your bread sounds delicious!

By the way... it is only 22 degrees here right now - please send some of that warmer weather my way?

Good Morning, The weather here is hovering just above freezing but sunny so its nice, tonight we're picking up all the supplies we need to build a wood shed so we can get some wood in. Last winter we stored a cord of wood in the basement this year we figure outside is a much better place for it. We used a card a month for the most of the winter last year so we figure if we make it big enough to hol 2 cord, we'll only have to order twice, and hopefully get a better price.

Up until this year I have always heated with just wood. And in southern California, I burned 10 cords a year. I don't have the access we used to to collect wood any more so times are tougher.
Today I am cleaning up litter and stuff from the heavy winds.

back in the day we used 17 very full truckloads of wood (mostly hardwoods) a year to heat our house--and as I have said before, I loved it. But nowasays in this house where wood heat is not an option, I have become accustomed to the heat of gas once again. I still miss my wood heat though.

Lynne, if I could send you some warmer weather I sure would---and if I could send you some starter or some bread I would do that too--but I fear that neither would make uit to you in good shape. nervous

I think I am going to make soup for supper to night---I will be happy with that but Rod will not be---oh well---

Mmm soup, I love soup. Well if Rod's not happy he can always make something for himself.

I think I might go for soup tonight too, If I can get my dad out of the kitchen. He's always trying to make himself useful around the house and more often then not attempts to cook us all dinner but Its often heavy, or greasy food. Soup would be a very nice change.

I love soup too. Last night I made a 15 bean soup with smoked sausages. I have leftovers but may make something else tonight.
I am done outdoors for the time being. I have my son home from school and am thinking of a nap.

I just brought in the last of my summer bird feeders. I will wash them up tonight & then closer to Thanksgiving I will put out my winter feeders---I think this year I will put out 2 wildbird feeders and then one finch feeder.

Cindy that is the cough med my grandma made to cure me when I had whooping cough when I was 5,, we had flown from Anchorage to Colo for my grandpa's funeral, and I got sick the second day- my Mom (was her Dad) took me to hospital in Brighton.. they had so many kids they couldn't fit me in hospital and so my dad's Mom took me and dosed me with that concotion- and got me well in about a week- doc told my Mom I probably wouldn't get better.... I still like it when I have a bad cold-
We have snow on the ground here.. and it's been chilly too.. boys went out today and built a snowman in my front yard today after school... we had to buy them all new gloves the other day- they just keep growing so fast..
I made baked fish tonit for dinner and fried taters, 3 bean salad to go with and that was dinner,it was good .. I am makeing bean soup tomorrow with elk sausage ... putting beans on to soak tonit... we are supposed to get more white stuff on Sat so will make good meals this weekend...
Well off to finish the kitchen up and then go work on my November budget... see how much I can do for Christmas this yr without going into debt to much...

I bet she didn't give you as much as I am "taking" right now...lol
But, all seriousness aside.....I can also remember taking this when I was a kid. I can also remember giving Rachel Peach Schnapps when she was coughing when she was a kid, and recently she told me sometimes she would fake coughing because she knew I would give her Peach Schnapps... adrink

Well......everyone is getting the same thing this year they got last year from me.....nothing. I don't have the money to go out and buy stuff just so I can wrap it up and give it to someone and they will never use it. My sister-in-law gave me a music CD 3 years ago that I have never listened to....she wasted $20...it's still not opened. Maybe I can "re-gift" it this year...lol

Jonni used to love Wild Turkey Liquor and honey in tea when she was sick and little. She still does. It helps.
I have kept Christmas shopping simple this year. I asked and from those who answered, I chose from their lists. Those that did not got gift certificates. Easy. Teddy is always my toughest. He doesn't tell me what he wants. And there is not much on his like list.

In my family we all draw names so we only buy 1 gift--well I buy one from me & one frm my DH. Then I buy for my girls & thier men--(sadly no grands yet)

But we have a family web site where we all post "wish lists" and then others in the family can go and pick out a gift that is in thier price range--it worksd out pretty well. Plus I think it is fun to make a list--it is remenisant of being a kid & making "Santa" a list.

Good morning. It is a brisk, fall morning this day.
I like lists too, Carol. But John's family lists got to be nothing but gift cards from places. I decided it was not much fun anymore and have opted out. I could buy my own gift card if I really wanted one. I like buying a little something or two for my kids. And I have a few friends I like to present with a small thought, like a bottle of their favorite beverage or homemade goodies.

yep--I agree on the gift card thing. I only like them if say I know a person wants something, it is at a particular store BUT I cannot pick it up---like say target shooting items...I say that is best left to the perosn doing the practicing....

Good morning !!! I was achy getting up this morniung--and that does not happen to me any more..Cindy, I hope you are nor "sharing" your illness.. egad I have too much to do to get sick..

I am achy this morning too. But mine was from swinging the pole saw around yesterday and I expected it. If I did it more often my yard would look spectacular and I would be in much better shape too. Or even if I mixed up the jobs more. Yards are a good workout. And they benefit from constant work too.
I made a full recipe of my bran muffins today and baked up a batch. That was to warm the house some. It is a chilly, damp day out. Now I have a small pot of baked beans going in there too. More warming.

I keep a recipe called banana bran muffuns in the freezer--when I bake I will make like 2 batches and then I am good to go for a fast breakfast foir quite awhile.--I am down to about 12 muffins now---I guess I should make up a batcvh before my eye surgerie4s, huh???

Tonight I will make Rod some burgers & I will get to eat the rest of the soup..yay for me...

about the yard--I am hoping that next week we will have some nice days yet--I have yet to clean off my gardens--
well the veggie garden is done but that is because we plan on moving it next spring.

I think giving a pound cake or cookies is a great gift for a friend. I think giving them right before Christmas Eve is a good idea because they can be used for friends or family who is coming over. You all have my address so get to baking. oink
