They really are nice plants. they bloom only at night , and the blooms last for one night only. When you start them from a leaflet it takes them about seven years to make a flower, and then every three or four years after that it adds another bloom. I inherited my plant from my great grand mother, and have given every one else in the familyon. If you would like one i would be more than happy to send one to you.

That is neat, and as much as I'd like one, I think its too much paper work to send the leaf cross the border but thanks.

Interesting to know that it takes seven years to bloom from a cutting. I received a few small cuttings from another member here about 3 years ago, and was wondering. Also... my 2 pots of this plant are VERY slow growing. Do you have any suggestions on how to perk these plants up?

I very heavily fertilize my plants with all purpose miracle grow plant food about once every four months and it sends off another few branches every time. Along with several blooms. After you fertilize it ,as long as its of age to ,it will usually bloom. I fertilized one of my new started plants a couple weeks ago and it has four new branches right now. Also these plants require alot of calcium, so its a good idea to put your eggshells on them.
