Hoping Bill is o.k. These Winter storms are so unpredictable, yesterday it called for 2-3 inches here, we woke up to 10-12 inches...thinking we need a new weatherman haha

Yay on the new computer Cheryl thumbup

Good morning!
Last night I was sleeping so good in the chair and about 2am the emergency alert thing came on and DANG that thing is loud!!! It said we were fixing to have a severe thunderstorm...which we sure did. I just went right back to sleep (drugs) and slept right through it.

Good late morning. The tail end of Bills winter storm is whipping across us and giving us some much needed rain. I loved sleeping inside with the rain falling outside.

Yes Tina I love sleeping when it is raining as well. it is so restful I think.

This morning Rod & I worked on the basement--we are changing things around so that we have at l east one space to pretend to use as a fmaily room. see no part of t he basement is finished, nor will it ever be that I can see---but at leasrt we will have a space to use when the family comes over---plus I am thinking I co uld just put up the Christmas tree down there--& that would save a lot of hauling big boxes up and down. 4 hours work & not much more than a dent done but ya gotta start someplace I guess.

Don't work too hard, Carol. I had unfinished basements when I lived back east. I made my own 'walls' with storage boxes and slapped down a room sized rug for a kids playroom. Put up a huge chalkboard on one wall and my oldest daughter's play kitchen stuffs. Beanbag furniture and such finished it off. It made a good play space and I was up and down all the time with laundry anyway. It was also a good place to put those larger toys that seemed to make messes of other rooms.
Basements are few and far between in California.
I got a few things done today. Looking forward to a nap later. Dinner will be chili-mac and a veggie platter so that is an easy fix.

I have been in "the chair" all day. I'm beginning to feel as useless as tits on a boar hog.

Allowing your body to heal is not being useless. Rest up and take care.

I should be asleep right now but I slept too late this morning. Got everything off of my old computer and transferred to the new one. DH is giving my computer to his friend that works for him.

Good afternoon all..

Cindy, can you get in a 'worker' to help you with things? Sometimes company is good to have. Rest up...

Any word on Bill?

Not lazy, just busy...we are all busy bees! neenee Even you, Cindy, you are busy getting better, sometimes that is harder work than cleaning house. kissie We got the eastern edge of Bill's storm, began yesterday with rain, then turned to snow late evening. Rain in WY in January. yikes I got my suet cakes made yesterday when I got back from town, froze them and finally got them out a few hours ago...but the birds have yet to flock to them why but I also filled up my bird feeder and they haven't come to munch on that either. Maybe they don't want to get out in the windy cold either! Happy Sunday to you all flwr

good afternoon--I have been working on the basement a bit this afternoon--that was after I did several things for my MIL first. I am finally resting on this "day of rest".

Cindy--yes resting to recover is one of the hardest jobs there is---please take it seriously & do your best at it as well. kissie

I thought I saw that Bill posted in the shout box yesterday afternoon/evening at some point ??? said he was using a generator???

Yikes!, I got a new computer too. And I love it, but I can't use it a whole lot yet. I have Quicken for my business, and my old one was a 2002 and the new computer and the 2002 edition of Quicken will not comunicate, so I have to work with my old computer until I get my 2011 books done, which is my least favorite job in the world. boohoo so it is a hassel right now unhooking the cords from one to another! Plus I have to learn the 2012 version of Quicken. Must be getting old.....change doesn't come as easy for me. nervous I was up way too late last night, cause I HAD to finish a book. I read every night and usually don't have trouble putting a book down, but tried to turn out the light and couldn't get to sleep for thinking about the book! So if anyone wants a good read the author is Garth Stein, the book "The Art of Racing in the Rain". Just a warning...keep the tissue handy! Espically if you love dogs. Heartwarming, not tragic. So now I am having trouble waking up, but that is what coffee is for. toddy Have a Warm and Sunny day....hope you are feeling better, Cindy

I hope that this weather front passes thru quickly for you, Sunny. kissie We had thunder & a lot of rain last night also.

Today the temps are just above freezing here (36*F) I just hope they stay that way--as I have to go for a Cardiac check-up--and take my MIL to get her blood tests---Bless my Dr for combining the 2 appointments for me---it is so much nicer to only have to make the 1 trip for the 2 of us.

Sorry for the insomnia ladies--but it sure nice to have those new computers to occupy that time, I am sure. grin

Good evening everyone. Had a busy day today but in a good way. Work, grocery shopping, dinner, workout, and then a nice hot shower. DH wants to go back to the store for pillow covers (he just got a pillow order today) and I want ice cream. Hopefully I'll sleep good tonight, and be able to get to sleep earlier too. I was really tired today so it shouldn't be too difficult but I've been fooled before.

Good morning all, we are covered in ice from the storm...I'm surprised we still have power.

People never shovelled their roofs, then we got rain and freezing rain...gonna be some roof damage by tomorrow.

Coffee is on and there's fresh cinnamon swirls for breakfast breakfast come on over.

OM Goodness--so sorry to hear about the ice----ans so sorry to hear about the roof situation. Glad you are snug indoors and that you have power. Your lovely warm wood heat would remain even if the power went out, right ??? (you know I am envious, right???)

I have really missed your invitation to coffee & sweets in the AM--so nice to see it again. I'll be right over--- shewinks

My roof is shovelled thumbup

Yup, stove is crackling at the moment....I can cook on it also.

Yup, I started eating sweets again for breakfast this week...may as well share with all of you. It's a bad habit but I find if I eat a sweet for breakfast then I eat less of it the rest of the day.

Somehow I knew YOUR roof would be shoveled--

Oh I so wish I could share in your stove warmth--it is nice to know you can cook on it too--that is an added plus.---I really miss mine--even yet--you would think I would have adjusted to the heat of gas by now... why touched.

Well I think that eating your sweets is a good thing. Probably sets the day off with the right tone as well. And after all, didn't your mom teach you to share ?? why thumbup----that we benefit is an added plus. shewinks

I really must get going now---TTYL. wavy

tearsHi Sunflower, is it too late for the sweets?? CO has been hit a lot harder than WY this year. Glad it sounds like you have everything under control! We are lucky to have a propanel roof, so as soon as the sun comes out it slides off! Just stay out of the way yikes Only 3 weeks before I begin putting seeds in the dirt to get ready for outdoors! YEAH Have a Warm and Wonderful Day flwr

Good morning. For some unknown reason, we had no power for part of the night through early morning. I am glad that I rely on wood heat also. I could cook on my wood stoves if needed but I also have a propane stovetop that does not require electricity to kick on. My oven however uses electricity to do anything.
Being without power is a good reminder to get my big generator warmed up in case I really need it in a real emergency.

Tina, I have a propane cooktop(small camping kind) in case of an emergency, it's not big but really serves its purpose.

It's so mild out..now it's raining. Good thing, the roads were so slippery this morning that even the snow plows ended up in the ditch.

Morning all.
It is snowing here this morning... coming down pretty good right now... no boys for us today so want to see if hubby will go to see the Ikea store they opened up... not much else to do ... we took the boys to the book store last evening- Derek needed a bio to read for a book report- he picked Martin Luther King Jr.. actually found one at his reading level... so then had to buy books for other two also... got to encourage reading as much as possible..Timba's class read the first one of The City of Ember in class so he wanted the rest of the series.. and Nicoli likes the Bad Cat series.. so it was fairly simple choosing for them...
I have some chicken to cook up today , some will go in crockpot, some in oven- good day to have it on ...
Well off to get something done...
Nana
