I have a giant aloe vera plant that just keeps getting bigger! my question is how large do they get?? This thing is about three feet wide and two foot tall! does taking away the sprouting babies help or hender the plants growth??

Welcome, Mindy. It sounds like your plant has reached about maximum size. Mine, grown outdoors in the ground, are about that size except the bloom stalks reach about 4 ft. If your plant is potted then removing the babies will allow for more space and nutrients for the mother plant. They will spread to actually break a pot so giving them the room will be good. And you can get many more plants to keep or share. Great job!

The variety I have has leaves that are about 18 inches long and its about 18 inches tall, at least the two big ones are. They always seem to do best when they are crowded. When I do replant them (ususally pulling out 20 or so babies), it takes months for them to start producing more. However if I only pull out a few at a time it keeps right on producing babies at a ridiculous rate. With or with out the babies I find that the big one continues on at a slow pace. The one that closer to a window does do better than the other, but they're all growing.
