Hoping all the little critters see their shadow today...I'd even help shine a flashlight on him/her if they asked me too

I agree I hope he see's his shadow too, I could go for 6 weeks of winter. Uunfortunatly it doesn't looks like Wiarton Willy will see his shadow an early spring for us. I think the early spring may already be here.

Shani--I think you are most likley mistaken. There is lots of time yet for the weather to get bad---never mind ohow it is acting today or yesterday---it could be bad well up into the spring/summer times. But as long as I am asking--why on earth do you keep wishing for bad weather??? You see, to me that is what winter implies. Happy GroundHog Day from me as well

I don't look at winter as a time of bad weather. I love the snow and playing it, snowshoeing falling down in attempts at other winter sports. I love teh look and I don't enven mind the chill (as long as there is snow) Everything looks so clean and fresh.
But past that the environment needs its winter rest. Thinking of how many pest the cold kills off, pests are always worst after a mild winter then a real cold one. Then theirs all the plants that get confused by the freeze thaw and start waking up tooo early, its alright once in a while the plants will survive but continually could really damage them, especially our forests. The boreal needs its cold as much as the light/dark cycles to revive itself. With out it we could well start lossing more trees, they don't migrate as fast as other plants and animals can back to a the climate regions they belong. Basically weakening the trees, and allowing for more disease and pests to infiltrate, which are in plenty of supply after not being killed by the cold. Winter provides so many great things for the environment and people. I love the seasonal changes that are suppose to come about each brings a new set of challenges and scenery, I don't want to live in any one or two season I want all four.
