Then the only other traditional Easter fare I can think of is turkey. There are bunches of nontraditional things out there. If I were cooking for a crowd, I would go with something like spaghetti or a big casserole of polish sausages withing a lot of vegetables or something. There is a problem that there are so many things Rod doesn't like and then the girls were trying to leave different stuff out of their diets over the holidays. It makes it difficult to plan around.
I think I'm going to have salads. Chicken salad, green salad. And depending on who is coming, potato, pasta, bean and so on. I really like the easy clean up and leftovers. I just have to learn to make smaller salads. I still want to make 10 pounds of potato salad at a time, for instance.
And then, on that note I'll go to bed and dream about food. Sweet dream all.

Here in Pennsylvania the tradition is Ham , pickled eggs, stuffed eggs, Polish Kolbusi, tator salad or mashed, lettuce salad, pickled beets, dessert is usually a Easter cake decorated with jelly beans or sprinkle etv.. All sorts of candy you can emagine.
We have a small candy company here an it does oodles of business.......I dont like their candy...But son an wife do.
Rabbits everywhere, chocolate an marshmallow.......Quite a money maker here.

25*F here..brrrrr.

Thanks Ladies. Tina, you are exactly right.

So far I have decided there will be a turkey breast, or 2. They will cook quicker. My one SIL likes mashed potatoes & I do not think Emily makes them, so I will have them & gravy. Then deviled eggs. so I am just at sides now....I guess, unless I change my mind...

I would love to make the green bean or asparagus bacon wraps....but I do not know how those would go over in my crowd.

There will be potesa, (no I will not make it, I ordered 2 yesterday) and dips & as add-ons.

I was going to make a bunny cake, but I have asked Luke's Mom what kind of dessert she will allow him to have. She has yet to get back to me.
I may just go ahead & make the bunny cake anyway.

I will get there.

As I have said earlier in this thread, the "Dudley Girls" Hollie, Amy, Valarie, Emily & Possibly Lauren,(I forgot about her, oops) will be coloring Easter eggs together this afternoon. Lauren is the my brother's daughter, & is a bit younger than the others,
I get to go along so I can help baby-sit Valarie's son, Henry.
See you all later.

Have fun, Carol.
Good morning. All our talk of sleeping and mine is messed up now. I need to get on track before school on Monday.

You have fun also, Tina.
I agree, get your sleep pattern straightened out or you will be messed up for getting ready for next weekend.
Have fun preparing your salads. They sound yummy.

I am off to get cleaned up now.

This the end of our spring break.
School here is over near the end of May. There is a three day weekend and then it is back to school for the summer session for Ted. The only time he gets a full month off is in July.
If Teddy was a regular student here, he would be finishing up his junior year of college. So when next year begins in August, he we will be a senior. This is amusing to me because he still does kindergarten type work. But it is good for him to attend.

I am back home.
Henry would not stop screaming so Emily suggested I take him on a walk in Luke's stroller. That was at 1:20. I did & Henry finally went to sleep & slept for 1 hour. I finally got a phone call at 3:10 telling me to come back home. I am so sore. I had nice flats on, instead of good walking shoes, and was not wearing a girdle.
(I need the girdle to be in my feet a lot, because of my total mesh hernia repair.)

But hey, I took a hot bath & soaked & am resting now---it will all be good & I helped my girls & my nieces. it was great.
I was also the photographer that took pictures when the girls were done coloring their eggs.

Good job, Carol. How old is Henry now? Some ages are just right for screaming, especially if mama is near and ignoring them.
I had a busy day. It ended with Ted in the bathtub. We played outside in the dirt today. Well, I worked and he played. Now dinner is done and I'll be taking my shower as soon as I can free up the bathroom from my daughter.

It was cold and windy today But the sun was shining. I wore a coat all day. We got Andy a new bed, of course, he won't sleep on it. I want to plant carrot seeds but it's either too cold or too wet so I might be buying carrots at the farmers market all summer.

Sheri..why not plant some in a large pot or planter if you have one, or 2. I do all of my early stuff in planters. My ground is so low that it is always too wet when it is time to plant the early stuff.

Tina. Henry was 11 months old on March 20th. He was in a sort of strange place, even though he did recognize me, and we think he was cutting some new teeth. My DH & his brother had horrid times while they were cutting teeth.

I would need to plant carrots in fall or winter, here. They would rot without forming a tuber in our heat.
I didn't nap today. And I'm really feeling my broken sleep from last night. I am looking forward to my bed in about an hour.

Good morning all.

I haven't been in due to some family issues, not immediate family but it still takes up our time.

I take it everyone is getting ready for Easter...I have not made any plans yet. My Aunt is having a lasagna supper instead of ham this year, I am not sure on what to make for ours.

I thought about making lasagna roll-ups instead of the traditional fair...but somehow I could not make myself do that.
It sure would be tasty and easy though, I must say.

I am up and sore. I do so hope that this trend changes.

Lasagna is delicious.
But pricey after you add all the stuff to it.
For one person anyways..

So I just have ham an tator salad an pickled beets an eggs.
I go to my widowed sisters for Easter dinner. She has lots there.
Probably get together with son an family an have a bought pizza.

Good morning. I am in getting ready for school mode. Easter is a whole week away and I don't have any small children to prepare for. It is a day of gratitude.

Morning all,

Got up early and started laundry and cleaning ... late spring cleaning or at least a start on it... want to get as much done as I can before Easter... we are going to do it here next Sunday... and it's our twins birthday this week so we will celebrate both...

We have had some really nice weather this week... was really warm yesterday - Joe got started on cleaning out the flowerbeds and watered the roses - they are starting to green up... spring is coming to the Rockies ... my daffodils are finally blooming too...

Well need to run the vacuum and dust between loads of laundry... and decide what to make for dinner...

Have a good day all...

Nana

What a long day. But we are ready for school tomorrow. And got a few extra things done too. And I am ready to hit the hay but I have about a half hour before that happens.

I bet you will be glad that this long day is over---I hope that you get to go to sleep soon, Tina.

Nana: Good to see you. Do not work so hard that you just get sick again. That would be no fun.

I addressed & got ready all of my Easter cards tonight.
It took me 2 hours...and not to worry, I am just slow.
I will now send them in waves so they arrive to their proper destinations on time.

My oldest niece suggested a card shower for my youngest niece as she will be turning 21 in a few days. I think that will be fun.

I am soon off to bed myself.
G'nite wavy
