Well, our post offices are on strike again. By the time they are done, more people will lose their jobs with more offices closing. You can't fight and win against the government.

We got 1/4 inch of rain today. Hoping for more this weekend. Our post office isn't allowed to strike.

Yay for the rain ! And while that is not a lot, every little bit helps.
So congratulations.

Jeepers, here everytime a person turns around...someone's on strike.

Enjoy the rain...and leave some for me.

Our power company isn't allowed to strike either. Interesting because these places do have unions. We were supposed to get rain from a hurricane, but we got less than an inch.

Only an inch, WOW..I am so sorry. However, 1 inch is better than no rain.

We are still in a drought situation here..even with all the rain we did " finally" get. I don't think any of us is where we should be.

The two brooks that run across my property are bone dry, I've seen the first one dry up before but never the last.

I need to take a walk later and check the brook across the road and the river down the road.

Yup, it is not a brook anymore....just a trickle. There is another fire burning out of control in our area. Not close to me yet. We can't even enter the woods to finish cutting next year's firewood yet.

Crazy story, I have gained ALOT of weight since we got married. I can't get my wedding band off.

I hurt my knuckle so bad that we had to use a Dremel to cut the ring off yesterday. My finger is swollen and bruised, burned from the heat of the Dremel and cut from the ring being pulled off. 😬😬

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry. If it helps, I have not been able to wear my wedding rings for YEARS !!
I wear Rod's wedding band. Heaven knows he cannot wear it.

I hope you heal quickly, Sunny.

Oh gosh so sorry Sonny.

I went with friends to a craft show/bazaar today and had the best time. I bought a cut book mark for a friend and a cute ornament for my sister. People are crafty but I am NOT.

So sorry about your ring Sunny. I have my Grandmother's wedding set. Her rings were cut off and she never had them resoldered. But then they were so thin I guess she could not have them resoldered.

Sheri, good for you, craft shows are the best !! I know you had a great time !!

We have a few more October and November bazaar things coming up that I hope to get too. Seems I haven't gone that much since Johnny died. I really don't need to buy anything but it is fun to go with friends and just look.

I'm still getting a few tomatoes and okra out of my little garden.

We picked green beans from Heidi's fall garden again tonight. I think they had enough for a nice side dish for their supper tonight.

I am still getting a few red tomatoes and a lot of the sun gold tomatoes.

The only thing left in my garden are carrots, the frost killed everything else. It was good while it lasted though.

Would that we could get some of your rain. So dry. Thankfully not sweltering hot.

I'm at a friends in GA for a few days. I don't notice the dirt on the floor and streaks on the appliances at other peoples houses like I do my own smile so it's easy to sit back and rest.

I agree, so much on that comment. I think we don't notice other people " situations" because we aren't responsible for changing them. Have a nice few days "off".

I am going to my nephew's destination wedding. (Vermont in the fall)
It is a destination wedding for everyone invited but not for the couple.
My how things have changed.
Still it should be a nice trip.

Friday: 10/10

Good morning !!

Fall is so pretty, the leaves fell earlier this year due to drought though.

Have fun girls.😘

The wedding is today?

People don't get married in churches anymore. Shelley got married in a church and it was lovely. Of course there was no dancing and no alcohol which suited them just fine. Ginger, on the other hand, got married in Jamaica. Darbi got married at a venue that cost more than my house when she could have used her church for free. We did throw down though and it was a fun wedding. Most of my nieces and nephews had destination weddings. It just costs so much more. One of Johnny's cousins got married outside and the mosquitos about ate us alive.

Sunny, hows the finger?

The wedding is Sunday. ( Who does that..my kids are not going because of traveling time and needing to be at work on Monday. It will cost each family around or more than $1000.00 to attend. You know I would rather they have the cash, but on well.

The venue was around $35,000.00 to reserve.

They offered to give Darbi the money as I did with both my girls but they wanted the wedding experience. Give me the cash please.

I went to another festival in downtown today - disappointing to say the least BUT I did come back by Lowe's and got a bunch of pansys, which I'm happy about, to put out in a few minutes.

My parents offered me the cash as well. I had the wedding, and I got the cash ( gift money) and I got gifts
To me it was a win-win.

Sheri sorry about a bad outing, but at least you have new pansies.

The problem with buying lots of pansies is that they have to be planted. smile Sure hope it rains tonight.

I broke down and told my boss I'd work 3 half days in November. I feel sorry for her. One RN has been fired. 2 have quit. Things are a mess. I just can't seem to get away from that place.

Very true about the pansies. You watered them well right ?

3 half days in a month is not so bad. But you could just quit, right ?

Wedding is today. Bride is having a little " party" in her room this morning. That should be fun.

My finger is better Bestofour, it was a lesson learned. Enjoy the pansies and the rain.

It better rain here soon. Two of DH's cousins each had their wells go dry this past week. They live just a 5 and 10 minute drive from me. There are probably more as well but we don't have Facebook to hear the news.

They lifted the fire ban for going into the woods so we spent a few days getting next year's wood. I split half of it today....I'll tackle the rest tomorrow. Thankfully we only need to cut three cords so it is a quick job.

Weddings?? Jeepers it has gone crazy with the prices. i can't imagine spending amounts such as they do.

Try 4

The wedding was very nice.

It was outside, and a Noreaster was headed our way so it was very windy and cool.
But it was done very well.
Then there was
1) a cocktail hour complete with food/ appetizers.
2) then a sit down dinner
3) then a dance
4)then an after party..with food.

We stayed there and the rooms were very nice.

Sound lovely. Glad you had a nice time.

I've been outside picking up pecans. I don't have a sheller, but my mother did and she loved getting pecans from me, so I thought about her. I'll have friends come tomorrow to pick up what they want. This is a year for pecans because the trees are loaded and the ground is covered.

Do you have to roast pecans?

Sounds like the wedding was a success, I am glad you got to go.

Yes you should. I used to know how long as we got pecans from Valarie's MIL back several years ago. Sheri should be able to tell you. As I remember the time is not long.

Thanks Sunny. I am glad too.

Pecans don't have to be roasted. They're fine to eat right out of the shell. I've roasted them with sugar though and they're delicious but I can't remember how long exactly.

When I get home ( tomorrow) I will find the roasting times and temp (w/o the sugar) and let you know Sunny.
