Ya gotta be careful with
lily seed because 90% of it isn't viable because there is no germ in it. Lilies shoudl be hand pollinated if you really want a lot of
seed. When the pod splits, open it up and put all the
seeds in a bowl. Blow across the bowl, and all the things that fly away only LOOKED like
seed, they were empty. The things that stayed in the bottom of the bowl are viable. Take a look and you can see how much fatter and heavier they are than what flew away.
Ladystress, I have some marigold orange colored
flowers, upright
flower, and some dark orange red, alsoo upright, but I have to wait to see if any of the crosses took. Maybe you'd like to take a short cut and get bulb instead? If so, email me.
It doesn't take a long time to grow lilies from
seed. They will bloom the second year, just like most perennials. (Except martagon lilies, but that's another story)
