An experience l would like to share with you. A few years after we had been married, John and l moved into a large flat, we thought at the time we were so lucky to get it John always worked away most of the time, my daughter was 2yrs of age. After we had been in the flat for about 3wks, l started to get apprehensive, as when l went to bed l would be woken by what l thought was my husband climbing into bed with me, l could actually feel the mattress moving, but when l opened my eyes there was no one there lt really felt like someone getting into the bed. When l told my hubby about this he said"you are imagining it" He never felt anything at the time. One particular evening we were going out with mum and dad, we asked my sister to babysit. Now we had never mentioned my experiences to anyone not even mum and dad, as my hubby really thought l was imagining all of this. When we returned from our evening out, my sister was in our bed, we were having coffee, when my sister ran from the bedroom screaming there was someone in the bedroom My husband knew then that l had not been imagining this. Funny thing the next night was Election night, well as l am a political person, l stayed up all night to watch the results coming through. Guess what? my unbelieving husband came running out of the bedroom saying he had seen a big flash and was really frightened, he could not describe what he had seen, but it was after he thought l had climbed into bed. The next day we had a spiritualist come from the church. We had to leave our home for maybe 2hrs. The spiritualist then told us that an old lady had committed suicide in our bedroom, she had hung herself. Apparently she had walking sticks, which they said was what l felt on the bed, because she was earthbound she could only stay where she died. As she had committed suicide her soul had not gone to heaven and she was earthbound. The spiritualist exorcised her spirit and released her to heaven. When we approached our landlord about this, he addmitted that the last three tenants had left, after a very short duration, and that he knew of the suicidal old lady, but had kept quiet about her. l had never believed in the after life before then, but l do now. Have any of you had this kind of experience?

hi! i saw this topic and it drew me in immediately...i don't care if people think i'm crazy but i too believe in them. i've never had any experiences but i have a few to share of my family's. when my little brother was about 2 or 3 years old he'd always be in his room on the floor playing with his little cars. he'd always be talking to somebody. me,my mom, and dad would be in the living room watching tv and we'd be like who's he talking to? so one day we asked him and he said "oh that's my friend johnny evans. he comes to play with me all the time." my parents thought that maybe it was an imaginary friend or something so they just went along with it. then one day they asked our neighbors about if they remembered a guy named johnny evans that used to live in our house before us. guess what they said? "oh yea there was a guy that used to live there named johnny evans!" my parents were convinced then! another incident was when my mom was about 8 years old or something like that. she said that she was sleeping in her room one day when something woke her up. she said that something was telling her to look at her door. she looked at the door and there was her dead grandmother looked at her and moving her finger as to say come with me. my mom just threw the blanket over her head and then took it off. she was still there! so my mom stayed under the blanket again and stayed under there for a few minutes and looked and her dead grandmother was gone! ok here's another one. when my grandmother was living, she used to live in a house where in the summer and spring she'd let the windows up. one day she put all the windows up and went across the street to talk to her friend. almost as soon as she got over there *her and her friend were sitting on the friend's front porch so my grandmother's house was in plain view* all the windows in my grandmother's house slammed down one by one! and there was nobody else in the house!! it wasn't the wind or anything because it wasn't blowing! so my grandmother went over and opened them back up but this time she propped the windows up with something strong so they wouldn't slam down. sure enough when she got back to her friend's house they slammed down again! so my grandmother was wondering aloud why her windows kept slamming down. her friend said "well there used to be an elderly woman that lived there and she hated everybody and didn't like to hear noise so she'd always keep her windows closed." so my grandmother just kept the windows down.

One of my ghostly encounters (this one scared the Sh** out of me, at the time. I was house hunting with a friend: Walked up with a real estate agent and my friend, to a beautiful looking home, went in, and walked into a heavy, depressive atmosphere. We all were trying to act normal, and not completly successful. I felt: depression, confusion and anger and fear. The more I walked around the stronger it got. Then I started hearing a voice, in my mind, say "who are you, why are you here, why am I in this box? Let me out!" I remember shakeing my head and thinking "what box?" The agent and my friend came back where I was (standing in the hall) SO we all headed upstairs. I had to force myself up each step, it felt like I had lead in my shoes, and I really didn't want to go up the stairs, either. Got to the top of the stairs, where there was a balcony overlooking the living room, so I paused on the balcony, close to the rail. The others were ahead of me and for some reason, my vison didn't seem to be working well, I couldn't see them. Next thing I felt was the senseation of a rope, sliding around my neck and tightening up. I PANIKED. Ran down the stairs, out the front door (didn't bother to close the door), out of the yard and finally stopped by a tree, leaned against the tree with one hand and tried to get myself under control. Realized I had one hand up by my neck kind of clawing, like I was trying to get a rope off of me, so I dropped that hand and started praciting deep breathing. My friend appeared at that point, asking if I was ok, I said sure, but " DON'T BUY THAT HOUSE"! She wasn't planning on it and we all went back to the reality agency. To shorten this up, the previous owner of that house had committed sucide by, you can guess, hanging himself by a rope from the balcony at the top of the stairs.

Wow, as you have said, we do not tell people as they'll think we are loco. When my huband passed away, I had his ashes in my bedroom closet. I had really strange dreams every night, but the weirdest was when I was having a nap on the couch, I had invited people over for dinner, and after getting everything pretty much ready, I found I had some extra time and locked my patio doors and laid down on the couch. I heard the screen door and patio doors open, felt someone sit next to me on the couch and rubbed my face and said "everything is going to be OK".Felt the couch move again and the doors slide closed. Opened my eyes and it was an hour latet. I checked the patio doors and they were all locked from the inside. I was the only one home. since. I have always heard my mother speak of ghosts, she was born in Ireland and they have a great respect for the "unknown"

Wow, some really spooky stuff, and just before Halloween too..
Ok, I'll go-
When I was little, about 9 years old.. I was in school at the time. I was in a gifted class, so a few of us would miss our class going to music, and we'd have about 10 minutes of free time with no teacher in the classroom with us while the rest of the class was in music, and we were back from our little group session. Well, most of the other kids decided to go behind the coat hooks and play a game of calling the spirit "bloody mary". I didn't want to do it, but they made me the lookout for the teacher. So, I'm standing kinda by the door, watching the hall, and we had the trashcan by the door holding it open. All of a sudden, the trashcan lifted slightly, moved to the other side of the door, and the door shut. Needless to say, I freaked out. The rest of the group thought I was crazy or moved the can myself.. but I hadn't. After that, we all sat down in our seats like little angels till the class showed up..lol.
edited to add- It was around this age, when I used to dream a lot of premonitions as well. That hasn't happened to me in a loong time.. but when I was about age 7-14, I used to dream a lot of premonitions. Places I'd never seen or heard of, I'd dream about being there, and later, I'd actually be there. One instance I dreamt I was in a classroom with a group of people I didn't know, reading out loud. I shrugged it off. About 2 years later, we moved from VA to PA, and about a year later after that, I was in that classroom, reading, and had a flashback of sorts, recognizing all these people from my dream. That's just one of my many strange kid dreams.

Last year when we went camping in the Osceola National forest, we got a picture of a ghost! The picture has been checked by a paranormal society and has been labeled authentic. Everybody was sitting at the picnic table late at night and I decided to get a pic. There was a beautiful glowing orb right above everybodies heads when we got it developed. I might add that it was a cloudy night and there was no moon and there were no lights anywhere around. The background was a solid wall of trees. I've had quite a few paranormal experiences(have been told I'm "sensitive"),none of which were scary. I still have dreams that could be labeled prophetic. I lived in a 2 story house one time that was haunted...You could hear footsteps upstairs, doors opening and closing and items that would dissappear and reappear somewhere else. We brought someone in and they said it was a spirit that was attached to me and that it felt it had to protect me. I believe it. One night I was woken up by noise at my bedroom window, there was a man breaking in! I was terrified to say the least,so I pretended to still be asleep as this man crawled in my window. As soon as he got in the house and turned around,he got a look of pure terror on his face and screamed "HOLY $HIT". There was nothing to scare him that you could see. He couldn't get back out that window fast enough,he fell in the bushes(tore some up I might add) saying"$hit,$hit,$hit under his breath. His yell had woken up the rest of the house and they got there in time to see him running off. I have a REAL GOOD IDEA who scared him off! G-Mom

O.K.....I believe in ghosts! We've lived in several houses that were infested with the little boogers! One house was so bad that if anyone DIDN'T believe in them, they would after leaving there! I was 16 years old when we rented this house after moving to Kentucky. There was an old outbuilding in the back that had no electricity in it, but at night it was always light inside. Not just a low "glow", ...it was like a 100 watt bulb. Inside the house we had to accomodate an old woman ghost that lived there. The owner of the house said the piano in the living room had to stay there, and she didn't even want us to move it anywhere else in the house.....had to stay in the same spot. I played the piano all the time. Sometimes at night I would dream about playing a beautiful melody on the piano, and I would get up and have to play it so I wouldn't forget it the next morning when I woke up. It drove my mom crazy. One night we were all asleep and someone started playing the piano. My mother assumed it was me...... ....it WASN'T! She yelled at me to go back to bed and lay off the piano, and I yelled back and told her it wasn't me! After that night, the old woman played the piano quite frequently. One night when I got up in the middle of the night to play one of my "dream" songs, she started playing it with me. FREAKED ME OUT! We couldn't see her at this point...she was invisible. But, I guess she got used to us living in her house, and she started showing up "in the flesh". She would walk around my bedroom in circles sometimes all night, stopping only to go look out the window for a minute, then start her pacing again. S P O O K Y ! ! ! ! ! Cindy

Wellll.... I don't have a ghost story, but I have a guardian angel. One night when I was a kid, about nine or so, I woke up in the middle of the night from a bad dream. I was awake, but still terrified. I had pulled the covers up over my head, and I was completely frozen. I tried to scream for my mother, but every time I opened my mouth, no sound came out. I was laying there just paralized, crying to myself for seemed like forever. Finally, I got up the courage to make a break for it- was gonna throw the covers back and run for mommy. I grabbed the covers, jerked them down, and there at the end of my bed, sort of floating about 3 feet above me was a light. It was small, and sort of triangular, only with rounded edges, and it was a yellowish-pinkish color, and there was a little, flowing, but definitely human shape inside. And as soon as I saw it, this feeling of total peace came over me. I've never felt such a sense of peace before or since. And I just closed my eyes and went back to sleep. But I've never doubted since then that there are guardian angels.
PS- Isn't it funny how often this sort of thing happens to us when we're kids?

Something else l would like to share with you. Gods Honest Truth. My fav sister-in-law Patricia was diagnosed with a liver decease, and told she only had 3-4 yrs to live, at the time Pat and my brother were living in New Zealand, they decided to come back home to see if Pat could get better treatment here. She spent many months at a famous hospital in Cambridge, they were at the time experimenting with transplants. l am talking 20yrs ago. She had endless tests to see if she was fit enough to have a transplant. Unfortunately she was'nt, but she was never told this. Pat stayed at my home every weekend. At Christmas the whole family all 20 of them had come to me for the xmas. While we were eating dinner Pat stood up and said "l know you are all worried about me but there is no need, my mum (who had died 2yrs earlier) visited me last night, and told me my suffering would all be over soon, she even said the date 2nd of feb. So that is when l will get my transplant and everything will be alright." Will never forget, we had gone to stay at mums, as pat had now switched hospitals and her condition had deteriorated rapidly, the hospital Kings College was only a stones throw from mums. We visited pat on the evening of 1st of feb she was in intensive care unit, l kissed her goodbye, as we were leaving she said dont worry l am having my transplant tomorrow and had a smile on her face. At 6-30am the next morning we had a call from the hospital to say would her husband go to the hospital as his wife was dying and would only last another 20-to 30mins. Patricia died on the day that she told us all that her mum had said her suffering would end. So yes l believe in the afterlife. These two happenings in my life have convinced me, a previous sceptic.

I read one of these messages on an other site that I go to;and I can't help but comment. I to have a story to tell. I live in a house that is visited by spirits from time to time. Right now I am having a investagator look into the history of the house. We have seen shadows and orbs floating in different rooms of the house. Well keep you updated on this subject.

oh man, now I know I fit in over here *L*
it's one of those things you don't tell for fear of people thinking your a nut case.
I believe in and see them all the time. I can hear them but I can't understand what they are telling me. It just sounds like a room full of people like at a party and you're in the other room.
Like the little boy in that movie said "I see dead people" I see them, they scare the crap out of me sometimes.
Just a few weeks back I went into the shed out side where we park our cars and a guy was hanging there from the rafters. Scared the crap out of me. I think I know where he came from. (I told y'all a storm took the roof off that shed) well hubby used some old boards he'd found to replace some that had gotten broken. and the spot he patched is the spot where the dead guy was hanging. *Creepy I know*
I believe in being re born and all that too. My daughter does some of the weirdest stuff for a 4 year old.
2 summers ago my hubby was working in PA and we were staying in a motel and she was playing around the bed with some pennies we'd given her for a piggy bank she'd gotten at a fast food resturant. I was folding clothes and picking up the room some before the maids got to our room. She laid down on the bed and layed a penny on each eye lid and said "these go on the eyes" I'm standing there stareing at her like a fruit loop. What do you say to a 2 year old who tells you pennies go on the eyes. I was glad my hubby was there he'd sure have never believed me.
then a few weeks ago I took my mom to the cemetery and and my daughter wanted to drive through the older part. We get to the top of a hill and she says "my other mommy and daddy are dead and they are buried over there" and started crying. What do you say to a child like that. I've told her she can tell me about them if she wants to that I love her and I know she must miss them.
I have ghost that walk my porch every morning. We thought it was dogs from down the road so hubby put up a gate to the porch and we still hear it, you can get up and look, but there's nothing there.
he says he's never seen one. I see enough for both of us.
I could tell you crap that would make your hair stand on end.
The 1st apartment I moved into with my 1st hubby was haunted. It had been an old motel. Everyday about 4:30 an old man would appear in my bed room (which was the lobby of the motel) I could see him. (I could see the entire lobby) He wore a white linen suite and carried a straw hat with a black band around it. He sit in one of those big wicker back chairs and had a walking cane. 3 years after we moved there we bought a house and my ex (hubby at that time) ask me what had we done with that big wicker back chair. I looked at him and said you saw it too? he said saw what? I said the ghost of that old man, that wicker chair was his. We never had a wicker chair. We sit down that nite and he wrote a list of everything he remembered seeing there and I did the same and compaired list they were so close on every detail.
okay that's enough for me....suzy is a fruit loop *L*

That is FREAKY!
I think some people are more prone, or let's say, "receptive" to picking up on the super-natural than others. You must be extremely receptive! I had a great-aunt who was like that. Always good for a few new ghost stories everytime we saw her!

I bought this "death car" once...wondered why I got such a good deal on it. Darn thing was haunted. You couldn't sit at a rail road crossing in it. I had to keep both feet on the break pedal the whole time and the engine would be reveing up and the car bouncing around. Always scared me to drive that car. and when I'd pull in my drive way if you'd look in the rear view mirror really quick you'd see a man run behind my car and down the end of the drive.
My brother drove it once and I told him to watch the rear view mirror as soon as he cut the key off. The guy jumped out and ran to the end of the drive way. My brother said let's follow him. I said you can't he just disappears after you get to the next road. You could see him turn the courner, but once you got there (and this was a really short street) he was gone.
and sometimes you could get in the car and it'd smell like animal poop, horse or cow.
and this was a pretty new car, only a year or two old at that time. And I felt like I couldn't get away from home in it. I felt trapped in it.

I don't know if why I started to see these things, but I do know that my hubby thinks that I have a special relationship with them. I know that they do speak to me at night when I'm asleep;I wake up and I just know that they want something I just don't know what it is.I guess the more I research the house the more I'll be able to understand.

Re: afterlife- Two years after my oldest brother died, my mom had this wierd dream. She was at the food court of a strange mall, and she saw a woman standing in line holding the hand of a little boy, who was the spitting image of my brother. The little boy let go of the lady's hand, walked up to my mom, looked at the other woman, and said, "SHE's my mommy now, so you don't have to worry any more." (My Mom always worried about my brother because he was mildly developmentally diasabled.) Just a strange dream, or something more? I know what I think.
