Hey guys, I am from New Brunsick Canada and am hoping I can get some great advice from this site! I just started the whole gardening thing and I seem to be doing pretty good, but I do have sooo many questions. I planted a little garden outside with pansies, snapdragons, marigolds, minimums and impatiens. I have a bunch of houseplants too. Those are my main interest. Our summers arent long enough here, so I prefer a plant which will last nicely. Hope to get to know you guys soon enough

Hello fellow gardeners. I'm new here to the site and to gardening. I'm a newspaper editor by trade and take to the garden as a refuge, though the days are growing short for growing anything in this soon to be frosty land—Edmonton, Alberta. I found the site while looking for advice on wintering over fuschias. Thanks for the info and I look forward to checking in from time to time. Best to all online at garden helper.

Hi Queen Bee, Welcome to another Edmontonian You are not kidding when you refer to our soon to be cold. Today is bad enough. I'm a little worried about "wintering " myself over. I'm sure you'll find a lot of friendly advice on this site. They are all great.

Hello, I have just returned from Victoria from my second visit...It is so incredibly beautiful. Went to Butchart Gardens, toured many private gardens. But you know what is so wonderful about Canada, is the people. They are so very friendly, so welcoming and do NOT feel that they have to solve the worlds problems. I know that the US is a wonderful country, however, so many Vietnam protesters felt that in order to live by their beliefs, they had to move to Canada...Thank you Canada for being the wonderful pacifists that you are. I truly believe that this country is very evolved...very loving, and very in touch with the world. Kindest Regards, Karen

Wow, what kind words for all Canadians, we certainly appreciate it. The West (Wet) coast is my favorite place to vacation and I'll be heading to the Sunshine Coast on the 11th. Great scenery, beautiful beaches etc. Warmer weather than chilly Edmonton for sure. As for helping out my northern friend, I'm real new at this as well, so perhaps we can share our experiences. Good or bad.

Well, this looks like the most current "newbie" thread, plus filled with other fellow-Canadians, so I'm just popping in to say Hi! I've been "indoor gardening" for a number of years, but I just "inherited" sixteen rather overgrown, overpotted, and/or slightly under-attended houseplants from a friend who moved away, and I am not sure what to do with some of them (I've never seen a croton in tree form before!). So I will have about a million houseplant questions over the next while....
