I just stumbled upon this site looking for information on how to prune my butterfly bush. Wow! I think I am going to enjoy it here.

I am a patio gardener. I only started outside gardening two years ago, when I got a patio to garden on!! I have several rosebushes, that I let go dormant in my basement this winter, and a rose tree. I also have several different perennials, that I hope all survived this last winter.

I also am an inside gardener. I have a huge window garden, and each year it gets bigger. A lot of my inside plants migrate outside for the summer, which they love.

I would not call myself a pro at this. In fact, I am learning as I go. I used to kill everything I tried to grow. Now, it seems I have quite the green thumb, because everything grows for me, and grows, and grows!!

I am looking forward to meeting everyone here.

Welcome Francine! wavey I've been debating about whether or not to prune my butterfly bush. I always had cut them back to within a foot of the ground before last when I just let it go. (not much winterkill at all). Doesn't look like much winterkill this year either, but I don't want it to start crowding a couple of neighboring shrubs, so I'm leaning towards pruning again.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Well, I pruned my butterfly bush back the day before yesterday. I am in Massachusetts, so lots of winter kill from our cold winters. I cut back everything that was dead, so it looks pretty bare now. I hope it comes back, because it is so pretty.

Francine
