Every vegetable gardener knows that black plastic mulch is one of the best things to get you a successfull garden. They also know that black plastic mulch isnt cheap !! Well instead of ordering the 8$ a roll black plastic mulch just make a trip to your local doller store and pic up some black trash bags. Just use one trash bag per plant ! Of course the price will depend on how many plants you want to put under plastic.

I tried this with about 30 squash plants last year and they performed as well as my 1/4 acre that was under plastic mulch.

I hope this idea works for you and your budget.

Well it makes sense - black, of course, absorbs the heat.

Some stores use those little black plastic bags too - that would probably be good to use.

Hi, I'm new to this board and have lots of questions. You were talking about black plastic, how exactly do you use this? I am trying to grow gourds in Florida and need all the help I can get.
Thanks,

Deanna
