The neighbor on one side of my property owns the hemlock hedge that divides our properties. It was there when she purchased her home, and it creates a wonderful privacy fence, standing about 10' high and running about 100' long. There has always been one virtually dead portion, but now the rest of the hedge has slowly been succumbing to disease that turns the middle brown. Although her live-in works for a nursery, they seem uninterested in treating whatever is damaging the hemlocks, so they are just gradually dying. I'm sure it would be costly, and it may not even be possible to save them since this has been going on a couple years now. I wonder if I could just plant vines to climb up my side of the bad parts? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It would help to know your hardiness zone, the sun conditions and if you want annuals or perennial vines.
