It is supposed to be a bad day Saturday for more fires.
The BurnBan in Oklahoma has been extended to Charcoal grills and outdoor Welding as well.
I have most of the ground around the house watered now, and will continue to water everyday for a while.
I have a disabled wife and am not sure she could get out in time.

Here's a picture from Thursday afternoon taken facing east from the house. The previous pictures of smoke were facing west, on Saturday. ![[Linked Image]](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/peppereater/S4300080.jpg) This fire was believed to be arson...several smaller fires popped up within a few miles yseterday...very suspicious. My DSL provider was down all day yesterday...I don't know if that had anything to do with fires. There were at least 5 fires in central Oklhoma Thurs.

All's well this morning, and the fire danger is "lessened" thanks to lower wind and temps. Tomorrows fire danger will be "critical" again, High 74, winds 35mph.

We got to 83 Thursday wind werer gusting to 50 at times. Low last night was 50 Weesie,Lynne,Merme I think that is probably your high's for this time of year. Usually while we seldom get winters like north of here I can't remember a winter this warm. When we lived in Oklahoma we had hard winters and we used to have winters here but now it just seems to go from hot to unbearable anymore. Even the desert area's are coole rthen we are. Winds are supposed to lay later today but up again tomorrow anykind of outdoor fire (BBWQ etc) is now banned here. Arsons are setting fires also caught teens setting them yesterday. Jimmy

Those are smoke clouds???? Yes. That was apparently a fire that was about 15 miles from here...as it turned out, at about the same time, some IDIOT was setting fires about 3 or 4 miles from here DIRECTLY upwind of our property. Luckily, it was near two small lakes, and the residents helped considerably with garden hoses, etc. I never saw the smoke from those...when the firefighters were responding to the first fire, they got the calls for the other 2, that's why they're sure they were set intentionally. Going outside now to run several sprinklers...high today expected to be 78, winds gusting to 30 or more...weatherman says this is the worst potential for fires so far, and the IDIOTS will all be off work. What do you bet some folks decide to burn their trash?

Quick update...here's how bad it is... There's a television briefing right now addressing conditions. Any ember that gets loose has an 80% chance of igniting a fire. Once a fire starts, it will travel 200 to 900 feet per minute, with an average speed of 500 feet, or roughly 1 and 1/2 football fields length per minute. Conditions are NOT expected to diminish after sunset, as winds are not expected to drop until tomorrow.

Oh, but get this, they are saying to have sprinklers ready to go, but NOT to water unless fires threaten. I can't believe I haven't been doing this right along.

Heard of any fires yet today, Amigatec? You, Jimmy? The wind keeps increasing little by little here, not severe yet, though. Fingers crossed.
