We've been sweating bullets here. Hubby has degenerative arthritis in his spine and went through a real bad round for the last 2 1/2 months. Not only was the back out but he had a pinched nerve that affected his upper thigh too. We've made the round with all types of docs, had all the tests, etc. They all had us thinking he was going to have to have major surgery (the xrays and MRI really look awful). But, we finally talked to the surgeon and he said he won't have to have the surgery just yet. Whew! I feel soooo much better now.

Great news! My dad has a bad back and every surgery seems to bring on new issues, so that is wonderful if he can avoid it.

Thanks for thinking of us y'all. And the prayers are REALLY appreciated! In the last two years he had to have his ankle fused and hernia surgery so we were especially glad he didn't have to have the back done yet.

I just found out this week that my spine is crumbling away in TWO places. No pain or any major problems yet but it is probably a matter of time.

Hey Thorny, If you haven't already, you really should go ahead and see a real good back specialist! They have my hubby going through therapy now and it's beginning to help. Strengthening the muscles around the spine eases the work it has to do. Also, if it begins to give you pain, a good specialist will refer you to a pain management specialist. Turns out there are things they can do besides surgery, which is a WONDERFUL thing! Who wants surgery

Marleine, I am so happy your hubby does not have to have surgery right away. Sounds like he has been under the knife quite enough!! My prayers are with you.
