I planted Daisy's last weekend and they are already producing flowers. Two have pop up since last Saturday.

Today I planted my pumkins. I have never grown those before and not to sure how they are going to respond to the heat, but I will let you all know.

my gerbers will bloom year round.when get frost I lay newspaper over themI love them.I'd like some of the 2 tond colored ones...which colors you have?I have orange,yellow,a pale peachy color& red

I love Gerbera Daisey's,
Never had too much luck with them
but I have too short of a growing season here.
But they're kind of expensive....
maybe I'll start some seeds for them someday!

Gerberas really are expensive, but I went to wally world 3 weeks ago & got a heck of a deal off the "about to be thrown out" rack in the garden department. I paid 50 cents each for two 8 inch pots of peach gerbera daisies. I brought them home, trimmed back the dying leaves, repotted in some good composty soil & now I have new buds blooming & the blooms that were already on the plant have perked up & look gorgeous! They just needed a little TLC:) This is my first year to attempt to grow gerberas from seed. I have 15 little seedlings I am hoping will do well for me.

Mine are perennial, but I've never tried to keep them going all year. Wonder if I cover mine up with newspaper when it's cold if they'll stay all year.

on the pumpkins - - you might try a bit of shade over them - - even if it is only that burlap cloth that is sold. I had them growing a couple years back had a little trouble from the heat until I used some burlap cloth over them - - then the jack rabbits and cottontails had a feast - - never did get anything - - now, I've learned to put some chicken wire around things that are going to attract the bunnies but that I want for "me". I set other things out that they can share <s>.

Last year, tried watermelon - got a couple of small ones - - but I did not shade them.
