They are so much fun to watch..
I get the boys to watch them,
Of course they look at me like I have 3 heads..

Here in Maine, they saute those curled up ferns in butter and eat them. They call them fiddleheads, I'm not sure what kind of fern though.
Has anyone else heard of that??? :rolleyes: Duh nutz

YEP - they had them for sale in the big indoor farm in NJ just the other day. Pretty expensive though.

Chef Emeril Lagasse did a whole show on them this past week on the cooking channel - looked very interesting.

I was told a long time ago that the young fiddleheads of Bracken Ferns were edible and tasty when fried in butter. I tried them once, and thought they were very bitter tasting. ICK! :p

The article I linked to says that eating them may cause cancer...
