rberke Junior Member R Joined: Oct 2005 Waterford, MI Zone 5	Hi Newbie here, Wanted to know if anyone has had experiences with the Maximillian Sunflower. Not really a true sunflower but they do grow very large (stems) with a bunches of yellow (cone flower type) flowers. I planted two this year and it got over 12 feet. I'm wondering about winter? Should I cut it down when it starts getting cold or wait till spring and let it flop around in winter.. Any suggestions would be appreciated! rberke

alankhart Member A Joined: Aug 2002 Knoxville, TN	I have several of them and I cut them back in winter after they have died back. I also cut them back by half in late spring/early summer to keep them from getting so big...as you have found out they can get extremely tall and tend to flop over.
