Maybe this has been mentioned somewhere, but I need a quick answer. I have been replacing the soil in my flower containers and want to throw the used soil into the compost to enrich it into usuable soil again. What should I be mixing it with? green matter, brown or both? Should I throw in some broken down compost as well?

Same thing you'd normally put into a compost pile..
The soil you're adding is just the frosting on your cupcake so to speak....
Helps with jump starting the compost pile and is veryyyyy good for it...

I do that with all of my old soil, throw it in
my compost bins... makes the soil that much nicer and really helps the composting process..
And you'd be suprised how that really stretches your gardening dollars too...
Even though you buy more bagged soil, you end up with so much more compost to add to that new bagged soil, you end up with so much more dirt..

Thanks, I find after a season of container planting the soil is so tired, so it needs to be replaced every year. Yes, this does stretch the dollar and the soil is richer for it too.
