plants in the Lamiaceae family all have square stems, opposite leaves and whorled
flowers.

Phlomis or Jerusalem Sage. The most commonly grown is Phlomis russeliana. It is an evergreen perennial with large, rough heart-shaped leaves. Thick
flower stems bear whorls of hooded, butter yellow
flowers in summer. Cold hardy in
zones 4-9 heat tolerance
zones 9-1.
