Ok behind my house in the woods there is a half tree half vine plant.

Around the base it is dark orange it has peeling bark like a london plane tree the bark also looks the same almost.Has leaves like almost exact to a black locust tree.Has long thorns.In the winter the leaves on the ground are yellow.Now I have descibed this tree to many people they say it could be a cross.Can anyone help identify it?

The bark in places is dark orange and dark brown.

Could it be a type of Mesquite?

I'm kinda leaning towards the Velvet Mesquite because of what the article says.

you could always snip a piece and take to CO Extension office and hope they have a knowlageable person.

No not it but I guess this plant could be classified as a vine/tree/bush combined.
