But I couldn't resist. Why are all my posts starting I couldn't resist today? Well I guess since the weather is so nice and it's been so long since I could play in the dirt it makes sense.
Today it was the crocuses and daffodils. Even though this is definitely not the time to transplant. They were scattered here and there and I just had to get them all together and looking pretty.
I have the white, purple and purple & white striped crocuses. So I alternated the purple and white and put the clump of striped behind them. And then behind that I put the daffodils. It looks so much nicer now.
Of course there are still more sprouting up here and there. As I gain in strength I'll get all of them gathered up and transplanted too.
I thought I had dug them all up and gave them away last year. I had no idea they multiplied that much in just one year. It's amazing.
While I'm bending your ear. Anyone know why the crocuses bloomed with almost no stem at all? I think they had a stem last year.

Tammy, that's exactly what I was doing the other day  because my squirrels had dug a lot of mine up and planted them in other places where they weren't supposed to be, so I had to move them. Anyone know why the crocuses bloomed with almost no stem at all? I think they had a stem last year. My Crocuses have stems but not nearly as tall as they were last year. Right now, I've got a tulip blooming that has hardly any stem at all.

Kenny, well, it was plenty cold this past winter and the bulbs were buried under sheets of ice twice this year. We did get a warm spell several weeks ago for a few days, but the ground was still frozen solid less than an 1/4 inch down. I should know because I tried to dig out some privet hedges for a friend and I couldn't even break ground. It was like concrete.

Thanks Kennyso, that definitely explains what happened down here. I was right that it was the wrong time to be doing this. It went from 75F to 37F last night. Now it's going to be down below 50 for the week. Good bye tomato plant. And who knows what will happen to the crocuses, daffodils and garlic that I transplanted. I'm assuming they are all gonners too. Maybe next year I'll have patience.

It's enough to drive a person crazy. One day the heat is on the next the air conditioner. No wonder the plants are confused. I'm confused.

It's the same here, Tammy! Earlier this week I was working outside in shorts and a tee shirt. Actually, it's 35 degrees outside right now.

Hi Porter! It's so good to see you. I was thinking about you yesterday because I was on a road trip with a friend in St. Louis and we went by Bayer Garden Shop, but it's much too early for them to have anything in. Yes, we are having snow flurries too, but nothing that is going to stick. It's really cold outside and seeing the snow make me colder. We had a St. Pat's Day parade here today and I got caught up in the traffic, but it looked like there were quite a few people there in spite of the weather.

Hey, Porter, I wanted to ask you a question and I didn't want to hi-jack the topic, so I tried to send you a private message, but there is no PM thing on your post. Did you know that?

Well the crocuses survived the snow and it's back up into the fifties. And I think the garlic survived. It's always hard to tell with the garlic. They will frequently loose their leaves. Why I don't know. They did it to me a couple of times last year.
Now the daffodils are starting to bring stems up. I think they will have some height on them which will be nice.
