Check the height they will get and stake if they are to get more than 3' tall. Also, stagger the planting times by 2 weeks so you'll have blooms for a longer period of time.

i put mine against the fence so that i could provide support...they DO get tall and i just tie them to the slats to hold them up!

alan has a good idea...stagger planting and you should extend the bloom time.

what zone are you in? if below 6, you'll need to pull them up before winter hits.

actually, i'm supposed to do that too, in my zone. i just mulch the heck outta them (6-8 inch thick layer of leaves in the fall) and they've survived and prospered.
