I need help to ID this plant I recently got from my grandparents. It has a large 8" leaf, and they told me it was called an Elephant Leaf Ivy, but I can't find any info about it on the web. My Papa said someone gave it to them years and years ago when they were in a garden club, and he tried growing it on fences and prostrate, but it got in his way one day so he just threw it up against a tree base with intentions of getting rid of it, but a when he got around to it again, it had started to climb the tree and had doubled in size. When I saw it a week ago, it was over 8 foot up the tree, had gotten too weighty and had fallen, but Papa said that it did that, and started climbing again. The pic I have is just a cutting that I put in the ground, and is not the full plant. The stem has reddish streaks on it, and is about 3/4" to 1" thick. Does anyone know what the scientific name or correct common name is?
Sorry, I got a little winded, but I thought the little extra info might help in IDing this plant. shocked

Looks like some kind of philodendron maybe.

Thanks, to both. I'll do some research on both to find out if the characteristics match either of these.

Hey, I found an article about the Giant Hawaiian Pothos climbing trees, which is how my grandparents' plant got so big, but I've also found articles describing the philodendron as have the correct stem colorations.

I'm a bit confused. I know that Philodendrons and Pothos are commonly mistaken for each other, or mislabeled, but how do I go about finding out which one it is?

The pic I have of mine is a cutting that has been placed in the ground, so it's not too good of a pic. If I could get a pic of my Meme's plant climbing the tree, does anyone think that will help ID it?

cajunmama- what is the 3 pointed leaf in behind your cutting? I have that and don't remember what I put there. It is a vine but which one?

buzylady, that is a morning glory vine. I planted moon flowers and morning glories in this corner, and they compliment each other well, blooming all day long (morning glories in the a.m., and moon flowers in the p.m.). clp The moon flowers are the heart shaped leaves to the right (the ones where the bugs have invaded, yuck!)
