A Gardeners Forum Forums Gardening Reference Gardening in 2007 Seed pod / which plant?

Hi all,
whilst at a picnic ground here on the Gold Coast (Australia), I came a cross this seed pod.
I took it home as it was laying underneath what I think may have been either a Yucca or Agave????? It is slightly smaller than a soccer ball.
Please help me identify this seed pod.
If poss. I would like to raise some seedlings, but would also need advice on how to.

It looks like the seed froma pandanus palm. Google it and have a look. You are right Weezie, i am in Johannesburg waiting for my flight. I'll see yuz from Oz :-)

G'day Pete, once the pod starts to dry a little it will break up. Just lay the seeds half buried in some mulched, cool, moist area of your garden and forget about them. Split the individual ones off the main pod first. I dunno if this is the recommended way but that's what seems to happen in nature. She has a few other tricks too i believe.
