Hi Kathie,
I'd wait a bit for either WILDVIOLETS or Barb, they seem to be the seed peeps!!

How many did you grow?
Which colors??

They are so expensive here and hard to find.
At least in my area.

Hi Weezie! laugh I bought about 58 plants at $1.50 each! Yes, they are expensive. That is why I want to grow my own for next year! I have 6 different colors too! I bought another type from a Lowes but they were not nearly as pretty as the ones I got from the nursery. The ones from Lowes just looked like flowers.....the ones from the nursery looked just like full roses. They are just my favorite of all flowering plants. To bad they don't come back year after year. I have not seen Barb nor WILDVIOLETS on for a long time. I really want to know what to do to get the seeds from the Lisianthus & when. I haven't a clue as to what to do. Hope all is going good with everyone. If anyone has any imput to my question...PLEASE, please feel free to put your 2 cents in. Thanks bunches! wink

Hi Kathie,
I'm brand new to this site, and just saw your post on Lisianthus. I fell in love with these plants myself this year, and grew a few (3). I have been searching the web to find out if they can be grown from seed, and how, and ran across this site that may be helpful to you. It is kind of lengthy but does finally address collecting and growing seeds. Hope it helps. http://www.dontveter.com/howtogrow/eustgran.html

wink Hi Iowanovice! Thx so much for your info on harvesting Lisianthus! That site was so informative! Many of the ones they talk about are the hybrid ones, but I have mostly the ones that are the double flowered Lisianthus that look just like beautiful full roses! Can't wait to do as they suggested in the site so I can grow my own from seed next year! Thx again! smile

KATHIE,
I had thought of you the other day, I got my "BRECK'S" catalog in (Nikkal and I are trying to figure out what we want to get with our $20.00 coupon) and I saw a flower that reminded me of you.........(and then I forgot where I saw it and didn't want to post until I found it again,........
Well, I found it)
The flower is called Butterfly Tulip or Paire flower (Calochortus) and it's in the "ball~park" of a lisianthus, single.
I know you like the doubles but... take a peek at them..... I like the purple/pink the best.... http://brecks.com/
Weezie wink

Did you save your seeds???

Hi Weezie! No, I have not gotten my seeds for the Lisianthus as yet. IowaNovice just posted a site that I believe will help with the knowledge of harvesting them. At least I am going to give it a try. Wish me luck! laugh Hope all is going well with you & your family & you are all enjoying the summer!
